What's something you were ABSOLUTELY wrong about

I thought McLellan (after last season) was a mediocre coach and Woodcroft should be fired. I also thought Russell would be an entirely mediocre pick up. Turns out I should be fired.

I thought Patrik Laine would get screwed over for the Calder due to Toronto Media about three weeks ago.

Never been more wrong. He has been invisible for the last 10 games while Matthews has been great.

So have his zealot tire pumpers, funny how that works!

I didn't think McDavid was enough to turn the Oilers into winners.

I thought Larkin was going to have an amazing sophmore year. I think this year is an indication that his ceiling is no longer an elite level 2-way forward with the potential of 70 pts. Too much lacking in his vision and hockey sense and hes played more wing than anything else.

Not something that you held a so so opinion on that turned out to be wrong; but something you were DEAD SET on thinking you were right that turned out the opposite.

Not the most original thread but I haven't seen one of these in a while.

I was just thinking back to John Scott in the All-Star game and how I venomously opposed him going. I just couldn't let it go. I thought everyone would be laughing at him while he was getting pylon'd. Meanwhile, in reality, it was one of the greatest moments I've ever seen in hockey. It played out like a movie.

I thought RNH would be a top five center.

I still don't understand what happened to his offence and creativity.

Justin Schultz being waived by the Pens by now.

Dylan McIlrath being a great defensive D.

Oscar Klefbom not being a top pairing D.

McDavid being devoured by the Oilers suck.

Oh, here's an embarrassing one.

I was convinced Gallagher was and would always be better than Marchand about a year and a half ago.

And more recently than that

Jack "JMFJ" Johnson. I genuinely, genuinely thought he would be a transcendent, hall-of-fame caliber offensive defensemen. Seemed to have it all and was just so damn dynamic in college. I have never been so sure of an NCAA player having "it" as I was with him. Never. Glad to see he's worked his tail off to become a really solid top-4 guy on a good team who has had a nice long career, but he's nothing like the sort of player (or type of player) I expected him to become.

Yakupov would be the best of all of Edmonton's draft picks, and a similar scorer to Stamkos :help:
I was high on Yak as well. Very disappointing.

A lot of people know I was wrong about the Penguins last year, if I predict their doom again I'm sure those that noticed will laugh. Let them laugh.

It's just very hard to repeat, and especially with those injuries.

I've been right about a pretty decent amount of other things over the past 5 or so years though.

Right before the lockout shortened season, I said Hedman has peaked - we got a decent #3 and that's it.

Good: Marner would struggle to hit 30 points this season

Bad: Rielly would be a #1 D by the end of this season

I really thought the Maroon's Herb Cain was a lock for the Calder back in '34.

But no, that ******* Russ Blinco had to win it. Grrrr.
