Trading James Neal to the Predators was going to destroy the Penguins offense...
Blake Comeau could have been a serviceable 3rd/4th liner in Pittsburgh.
Brent Johnson deserved to be the #1 goaltender.
Trading Joe Morrow for Brenden Morrow (although in retrospect it was a wash).

I was hyped about Tinordi, Sekac, De la Rose, and Andrighetto for the Habs. In hindsight, the only one living up to it is maybe Ghetto, assuming this is not simply a hot streak.

Jonathan Ericsson was the next great Swede for the Wings D and would be the (poor man's) replacement for Lidstrom. I truly thought he would be a great top pairing D after his tremendous showing in the playoffs.

A lot of it can be attributed to some bad injuries, but since then I have not hated a player more since Lilja.

Subban would dominate in Nashville.

Patrick Laine would flop.

Eberle would have a huge year. MacKinnon, Neal as well.

Finals would be Nashville and Tampa, which seems highly doubtful now.

Going back a bit. I thought Pascal Dupuis was a flash in the pan, and worse, that Stephane Veilleux would be the better player moving forward. That was back around 05-06.

Was also very sure Brule would be a star. Still haven't really seen a player dominate every aspect of a game (offense, Defense, posessioms, physical play) the way he did in the memorial cup back in 2006. I thought there was no possible way a player like that could bust, eeepxially with a very solid 7 game stint in the NHL.
