Pronger may be the best D we've had but it was just one year and he was demanding a trade before the playoffs even so I'd hesitate to put him on an all time Oilers list.

I'm not sure what the line would be, maybe 3 seasons?

He got the Oilers closer to a Cup than anyone else in 16 years. He qualifies.

Pronger was not an Oiler, he was a rental player. He hated the city, the fanbase and took every opportunity to take a giant dump on the Oilers logo before and after he left. He personifies whats wrong with modern diva Canadians that grew up in small towns that somehow think they are too rich and fancy to play in a blue collar city. Pronger is exactly what was wrong with the modern athlete. Hes a jackass on and off the ice. Please never include that turd on any lists that have names like Kurri and Gretzky.

If all it takes is one season then people listing the checking lines might as well include Micheal Peca as the best checking forward the Oilers have had.

I would say that Coffey was the best defenseman to ever wear the uniform. For me its really not all that close.

Alright, I thought wayy too much about this. But Hell, I've got so much time on my hands:

Rules:
1.Only players I've watched in my lifetime (31 y.o.)
2. Decides to make a functional team, as in not just 4 straight scoring lines, team needs to theoretically penalty kill.
3. Must have started and finished the season on the team

ALL-MILLENIALS OILERS TEAM

Draisaitl (19/20) - McDavid - (19/20) - Hemsky (05-06)
Smyth (96/97) - Weight (95/96) - Guerin (98-99)
Hall (11/12) - Arnott (95/96) - Eberle (11/12)
Torres (05/06) - Stoll (05/06) - Grier (98/99)
Nugent Hopkins (11/12)

Pronger (05/06) - Mironov (97/98)
Hamrlik (99/00) - Visnovsky (08/09)
Souray (08/09) - Gilbert (08/09)
Whitney (10/11)

Joseph (96-97)
Salo (01/02)

Salo 27-28-13 2.33GAA - 0.914SV%

440 goals-worth of players

RNH would technically play his full 62 games of his 11/12 season as there are 75GP of injuries among the forwards and in this dream scenario, no two forwards are injured at the same time.

And like above, Whitney would play his full 35 games of his season too as Visnovsky was injured for 32 and the others were injured 6 more games.

I know Visnovsky was a left-shot, but I remember him excelling on the right-side, which is the team's weakest position. Wass hard choosing Grier over Pisani but I'm a sucker for the hard-work of those late-90s teams

Jesus, if I was a goalie I'd be having nightmares cause Stoll, Arnott, Souray, and Pronger all had absolute bombs they could shoot.

Arnott missed the net a ton though, which was dangerous cause the puck hit the boards so hard, it flew back out at a faster speed than the shot itself

I couldn't remember about his PP usage when he was here. Do you think he'd be better in Guerin's spot on PP1?

Cujo was the best goalie to ever play for the Oilers . If he played on the Gretzky lead Oilers the Oilers would of won 5 straight cups . Fuhr was good at not letting in a goal that would sink the Oilers but he gave up many a weak goals . The Oilers just had the fire power to over come .

Pronger wasn't a rental and should be on just about everyone's list.

Surprising to see a lot of Lowe and S.Smith on lists. SC rings aside, were they really that good?

i was old enough to pay attention starting in 87 and id say... LOWE yes. Lowe was a top dman but not offensively. very good positionally and compete wise.
think...jason smith.
not sure what his earlier years were like.
S Smith wasnt better than some other guys not mentioned.

If i was making a team... not just Oilers all-timers; Lowe would be on it...
HAll would not be on it.

No chance is Cujo better than Fuhr. We’d of had 7 straight Cups if we kept Gretzky and never dressed Steve Smith. I liked Cujo too but he never won jack.
Moog, Ranford and Roloson took us further than Cujo ever did.

Description

Reijo Ruotsalainen was the main reason we won in 90. He ran everything back there. Pronger, coffee, fogolin.

So

Coffee 1st, pronger 2nd, Reijo 3rd. Fogee 4th. Lowe 5th, Manson 6th

To me, steve smith was way overrated. Then of course he scored the biggest goal against the oilers. He's the last d on my list. 100th place, I'm still not over it !!! Lol then he goes to cowtown to boot ! Cause he was their hero !!

I'm a 31 year old man and Chris Pronger was the centerpiece to the most memorable year of my life as an Oilers fan (die-hard since 8 years old). You better believe he's one of the best Oilers I've ever seen.

Generally character and attitude aren't used to evaluate any all-time lists. If that's a measurement for you, you may as well strike Glenn Anderson of theses lineups as well.
