If it involves giving up any of our better prospects or picks, no. So, probably nothing (as far as being a buyer is concerned)

sell, sell, sell. We have what we have going into playoffs if we make it. The only move i can see being made in anyway of a buyer is getting a decent goalie (being that Mase isn't 100%).

There is nothing of substance the Flyers could add because of cap issues. If they could unload a big salary, then sure, but no one is going to take our big salary players.

I think Hextall could make a hockey trade. but that is as far as he is going to go I think. The Flyers are at the cap ceiling with Timonen just about healthy enough to play and Hextall said he wont trade the kids.
Still think Grossmann will be a Flyer after the deadline passes. The organization loves him. for some reason.

Maybe a minor move for a 4th liner upgrade on Rinaldo and addt'l PKer.

Grossman for McClement or Chipchura type player.

Not much. The best thing that could happen is Timonen comes back and plays well and Read gets back to where he should be. That is better than acquiring two pieces.

EDIT: I wouldn't be opposed to making a move that helps down the stretch, but given the way this season has gone thus far, I wouldn't give up anything of big-time value.

Trade Grossman for a pick, replace him with Kimmo.

Trade Coburn for a younger prospect to move into a 3rd line role and re-insert Schenn into the lineup.

By getting rid of the dead weight: Vinny, Umberger, Grossmann, MacDonald and to a lesser extent L. Schenn

Also Coburn. Get a good package for him (1st + b-level prospect)

Here's what I would try to do; not sure how feasible these deals are but here goes:

Trade Coburn for a 1st (or try to trade to NJ for Mike Cammalleri which I doubt they would do)
Trade Luke Schenn or Grossmann to ANA for a LW like Etem, Smith-Pelley, Cogliano, etc
Trade for a backup goalie like Jack Campbell DAL, Mark Visentin AZ, Zac Fucale MON

Fucale's not an NHL backup goalie. He's only 19 and would be behind Stolarz on our goalie depth chart.

You don't give up anything valuable for a back-up goalie. first you try to get one via free agency, and if that doesnt work, then you make a move for one

Bruins fan here. Got a trade scenario for you.

To PHI:
Subban
1st or two 2nds
Koko/Ferlin/Other prospect

To BOS:
Simmonds

You get a potential franchise goalie for the next 10-15 years and a solid pick and we get the RW we need.

Thoughts?

Why do we need a "potential franchise goalie" when we already have one?

If you want Simmonds, start with Hamilton or Pastrnak and add.

We need to dump a D-man or two to make room for Timonen but we shouldn't really buy or sell much. We're in a position that we may make the playoffs and maybe not. So buying/selling too much is not in our favor.

I wanted Sekera before and I still do. Don't want to pay the price the Canes are looking for.
But if Coburn is traded for 1st+middling prospect and Grossmann is moved, I'd want to turn some of that into Sekera. Sekera would be better for this playoff push and would be an excellent Timonen replacement for next season, if re-signed.

Realistically for any of that to happen Amac or Luke would probably have to get moved as well. It may be time to package the Schenns for a clear left wing upgrade (Boedker/ROR types?) in the offseason.

How does this help us get to the playoffs? We already have Stolarz, too.

They are already capable of making a playoff run with the current lineup, so I think they could be weak sellers just to cut some excess. They are highly unlikely to make a serious Cup run if they make the playoffs, so it'd be foolish to neglect the future to focus on a Cup this year. They are more than one trade away, IMO.
