Aren't some of their dmen still injured?

In saying that, their possession metrics are below 50% and their PP has been red hot. Not surprised there has been some market correction on them as of late.

Lack of depth, lack of good defence, lack of good goaltending. Surviving on an unsustainably high pp percentage. Tippet needs to be fired and the next coach needs to drop down McDavids and Draisaitls ice time, work out an actual second power play unit and force the team to play as a team and not rely on two players. Very one dimensional team in a league with too much parity

Did they just get bored or are there some structural issues happening here? Goal scoring had dried up a bit lately

Entire left side of the D was injured for a few games.

Most are back as of tonight. If they play like tonight they should win more games than lose.

PDO was high before and now should have normalized because of the lack of puck luck recently.

The vast majority of the bottom six forwards suck.
Puljujarvi is overrated. He can't do anything unless he's playing with McDavid or Drai.
Very few players have done anything significant 2 games in a row without playing with McDavid or Drai.

They're a shitty 5-on-5 team (again) that relies on the power play to win games (again), with an idiot head coach who is still living off a fluke playoff run in 2012.

There is no reason the bottom six should be worse than the past two years, but here we are.

Tippett/Holland have had 3 years to:

1. Get a goalie
2. Find bottom 6 scoring
3. Improve defensive systems/system play in general

They have failed in all 3 areas. This leads to a poor team propped up by 2 players.

They have two elite forwards, 3 second liners and a pile of meh up front. They have a bunch of 2nd and 3rd pairing dmen and their goaltending is questionable.

lucky for them their two elite forwards will carry them easily to the playoffs.

They probably would have won the first three games of this skid if they put in the same effort that they did against Boston. I think the idea that teams have figured out their powerplay has been overblown too. There was a lack of crispness on the powerplay in those games, where they had time, but passes were just a bit off or jumping over sticks.

Depth is the answer. Also, they have had some significant injuries on D over the last few weeks.

McDavid and Drai are otherworld players and Hyman was a solid add, but there is a lot to be desired about that bottom 6.

They're slumping a bit right now, but hopefully they can turn it around. Might be time to promote Woodcroft.

Their inability to bring in forward depth is incredible. I swear to god if we sit through yet another off-season where we’re supposed to believe that a 35 year old is going to save our bottom six.

I knew going in that the defence had some major holes. Bouchard has been great, nurse is overpaid but still good and Ceci has been surprisingly solid. The problem is Barrie is a dumpster fire in his zone, the depth guys aren’t great and Brober and Niemelianen have flashes but definitely aren’t ready

Last couple games have been better and they outplayed the Wild and Bruins for very long stretches, but this team still can’t score 5v5 and Holland has failed to fix it/Tippett couldn’t coach a Timbits team into falling down.
