"Let's build a team with a pathetic defense, barely any NHL quality centers and wonder why the wingers don't look better!"
Yup. Must be a leadership problem.

What's wrong with this team - strictly on the ice , and not considering that management failed to get proper/better players?
Lazy and entitled.
the end.

I think the comments dismissing leadership aren't giving it enough respect in just how much of a factor it is. I mean of course this team needs more talent and better players, but there is more to it than that. This team last year was coming off a big win in LA and looked like a lock for the playoffs, only to rattle off 8 regulation losses in a row. Yes Bernier was injured for more than half those games but for ****s sake, why could no one on the team rally each other to put more effort into the game? Why did it fall solely on Carlyle to try and get the team to buckle down and play better? This team faces any little adversity and they crumble like a house of cards. This team is so fragile mentally, and it's no wonder looking at who our best players and leaders are.
Better question
What's right on this team?
What I think is wrong with this team is that there is very little that is right with it.
If the Leafs brought back only 1 player from this year's team in Morgan Rielly for next year I'd be okay with that, in fact I would be better than okay.
