I think he’ll be a Cap for life but I was also certain Pavelski would be a Shark for life, so who knows.
This must be the first long contract (10+ years) that the player actually play in his entirety.
From what i know he told a swedish newspaper in his home town about his plans.
1) re-sign with CAPS. But he isn't sure about the terms for now
2) retire as a Caps player and finish the career with his hometown team in Sweden after the contract IF he feels like his body is up for it.
3) I don't read swedish so i cant verify it for personaly, but a swedish friend of mine told me about it. Should be on google if any swede wants to confirm.
Anyway, it will probably be the last NHL contract he signs, so maybe 3 or 4 year deal? This takes him to 35 which is probably a solid age if he wants to do step 2.
Gotta think he tries for more than 5years

Depends on this season really, but I think he retires a Capital and gives them a decent deal on the next contract.
5 x $8.5
He already gave them a discount last time. Why would he again this time ?
He'll probably go back to Russia.
Today Aho is better than backs and loon at his deal. If Backs gives a hometown discount you are lookin at 7,5M aav.
8,5M is not a discount...
8,5M is not a discount...
He's alwasy been pretty open with wanting to go back home to give it a shot with Brynäs before retirement.
Ovie's about to start year 12 of 13. You're correct that Backstrom will finish first though. This must be the first long contract (10+ years) that the player actually play in his entirety.
Oh? This is the first I've heard of it. Source?
if even
what really confuses me is how Myers got 6m when Dahlin only gets 925k
Why is Backstrom ditching Washington to go to Russia? He ditches Washington for Russia with Holtby now that he has his cup.
