I don't mean to be a dink, but if you're suggesting there is not a large enough sample size to evaluate the scouting group isn't your point moot?

Either way, Wright has been with the Red Wings as Director of scouting since 2013 (I mixed up my dates). Since then he has given us Larkin, Svechnikov, Saarijarvi, Hronek, Smith and Cholo. That's a solid group and imo shown enough to earn my trust with a top 10 pick. Equally important, He seemingly hasn't blown any picks which is always a good thing lol.
That comes down to how much turnover you think there's been. My understanding is that almost all of the actual scouting group is the same; they just got a new boss. That means if there were flawed scouting reports coming in before, they're still coming in, and that directly affects their ability to draft.
