Bottom 6 / 3rd pair guys: yes, rough physical approach a big part of getting "old" earlier. The other component is that their skill level margin over NHL minimum is tighter. Thus marginal decline could take them under minimum requirement to keep NHL job. Skill guys have a wider margin to deteriorate.

On Chara: I think he overdoes the workouts. I think he'll age faster as a result. Too much wear and tear. His strict diet will be more impactful on remaining effective. He also has the stick, hockey IQ, and dogged determination.

For all others, exactly ten years older than whatever age I happen to be at the time of the question.
