What's he like? He comes across like a *****e, but that could just be a schtick.

Either way he's a land monster.

Looks mean in person too. His sons look just like him, like little mini Brock Lesnars.

Edit: I have a story about the first time I met him but I’d rather not share it. Regular guy though. His sons played on the local hockey team (ages Gr. 1-2). He’d talk to the ppl at the rink.

I’ve got a wide build (scrappy) 5-9 210, but he’s a tank. I was eye to eye with him, but obviously it was actually eye to chest.

I met all the guys at biosteel camp.

Also met Shea Weber at a jays game, he was really nice. I met John Tavares last summer at the U2 concert, he was hammered lol. I got a picture with him and he was chill, I felt like telling him to join the leafs at the time

Me and some friends went to Pittsburgh to watch the leafs play last February, ended up going to the casino on the Friday night and ran into Uncle Leo and Kappy playing at one of the tables, Talked to them briefly and wished them luck for the game on Saturday.. Didn't want to be "that guy" that bothered them while they were playing. They both had big stacks though haha

Worked on behalf of Syl Apps Jr. account for about a year. Nice man. Mostly played for the Pens back in the 70s or so.

I’m from Collingwood and one year the leafs prospects had their training camp there. I met Nylander, Marner and Kapanen. I have pictures with all three. I also shook Mark Hunter’s hand and Cliff Fletcher’s. I was like a kid in a candy store that day, all of them were good guys!

During WJC 2014 in Malmö me and my friend went to a bar downtown and came to talk to two sponsors of the Swedish team sitting by the bar. After some time they told us that the guys drinking by the bar just behind our backs were the USA team. The Americans had just lost their quarterfinal against Russia while the Swedish team had won 6-0 over Slovakia. One of the sponsor guys told my friend that he should ask them if they knew how to sharpen their skates properly. So my friend turned around and patted one of them on the back and asked just that, it was Stefan Matteau.
Kinda understandably he got pretty angry even if it was an obvious joke and that we were just teasing him.
So things heated up pretty quickly and the before Matteau did something he would probably regret, some of his teammates stepped in between and he quickly calmed down realising we were only joking. Matteau then called over the bartender and bought a round of shots for me, my friend and his teammates.
Things went from being a quite hostile situation to very friendly, and before we knew it we were both talking and drinking with guys like Ryan Hartman, Danny O'Regan, Riley Barber and Thomas Di Pauli.
Me and my friend were a couple of years older then them but they came to like us and told us they planned to head over to a night club not far from the bar and asked us if we wanted to join them.
Of course we said yes.
So by the end of our night out, after a day of watching great hockey, we had almost sarted a fight with Stefan Matteau, drunk tons of shots and danced at a night club with half the USA team.
A fun and magical night I will always remember.

Toronto (NHL Season)
I took my lady to a Justin Beiber connect lol it was a highly exclusive one you had to win tickets just to attend , there was only maybe 1000 people at the venue. It was held at the Danforth music hall. Before the concert started i was scouting the area & I seen JVR / bozak / Rielly and they were standing right beside me (10-12 feet away). I was super fringing excited so i went up to them and tried to tell them that they were some of my favorutie players. JVR & BOZAK frigging curbed me so hard, look at me like i was crazy , stared me dead in the eyes and than just turned away and whispered something to each other and they laughed. Rielly kinda gave me an awkward smile like he almost wanted to say somthing back to me but didn't because jvr & bozzy didn't want anything to do with me. and than some big security guy came up to me a told me to walk away , and they didn't wanna be bothered . the concert was full of little kids no one noticed them the whole night besides me. i tried to be super discrete and not cause a scene, i went over to them super collective and calm, i was losing my **** on the inside but didn't show it lol. kind of turned me off of them after that lol i was kinda mad i can't lie . My girl was more mad than me i think , I was like i hope JVR and Bozak get traded after that lol anyways yeah .
For real?

Not surprised. All interactions I witnessed with him were simply awful.

One night he came into the restaurant, he was/is super close to the owner Ted. Tie would always order the gelato plate but wanted it without the fruit garnish or the chocolate script the pastry chef would normally do.

Well a new server took his order, brought him the gelato done in the normal way, w/fruit and chocolate and Tie lost his mind. Screamed "WTF is this!?" Literally slapped the dish off the table smashing it on the ground yelling "Do you know who the **** I am??!!"

Unfortunately not the only story like that...

Respect the fact he bled and fought for the team but wow . .

1. You somehow know that Tie always orders the gelato plate without garnish or chocolate
2. You somehow knew that it was a new server who took his order AND cooked up the gelato the normal way
3. Even though Tie is apparently "super" close to Ted the owner, he still threw the plate off the table, breaking it and using profanity

Do you mind letting us know how you know how Tie likes his meals cooked? And how you know the server was brand new? And how you know that the meal served to him was "regular" cooked instead of minus garnish and chocolate?

Do you live in this place or something? I'm curious.

Am I the only one who finds more than half of these stories complete b.s. or at the very least ultra-embellished??

I ran into Tie Domi in the same Subway (restaurant not mode of transportation) 3 times all roughly a year apart.

Very nice guy and very willing to talk to fans.

Well apparently he throws and breaks plates of food on the restaurant floor when his meal isn't cooked to his liking so I'm wondering which story to believe ;)

Lindros and I have been circling each other for quite a while now, but it never comes to fruition. Roughly a decade ago he was doing some work with a tech group in Waterloo and they contracted a company I was working for, but I was off sick. About a year ago, my current company did some work for him. I did a fair bit of it but wasn't free to meet him with my colleagues. Recently, my brother in law started working on some concussion related stuff in London and has been in contact with Lindros. Apparently he's a good guy, gonna try and get down to London to meet with him at some point.

I've spoken with Max Domi a few times, though not since he's been drafted. Nice enough kid, though a little cocky.

Outside of hockey, my grandmother is very good friends with Fitz Vanderpool, a former world champion boxer. He's visited my family during holidays and calls her every Mother's Day, and he babysat me a couple times. I also had a chat with George Chuvalo, who fought Ali. Super nice guy

Earlier post in the thread I mentioned I was the production chef at Harbour60 back when Tie played for us.

1. I personally didn't know how he liked his dessert until I saw this happen. But apparently it was known to most of the experienced servers on the floor.

2. It was a new server who took his order and didn't tell the kitchen it was for Tie.

3. Ted the owner is also a miserly old asshole and Tie was like the son he never had. Should be mentioned that Ted's son also works at the restaurant, but Ted treated him like shit too. You can often see Ted at Leaf home games. He and his buddy have seasons right behind the leaf bench on the aisle

The ones with the most detail... Tie Domi smashing his plate against the ground because he ordered gelatin without chocolate.... Reilly/JVR/Bozak making fun of people at a Justin Bieber concert.
it would be pretty sad to make up a lie to a bunch of anonymous strangers. You gain nothing from it.
