Laura Nyro - Eli and the Thirteenth Confession
Joni Mitchell - Court and Spark
Edith Piaf - Hymne à la môme (probably not the best compilation out there, but that's what I have)

Of the already mentioned Blue, Tapestry, Pearl... (BTW, anyone else think that "Move Over" is a helluva lot better song than "Me and Bobby McGee"?)

Joan Jett - I Love Rock & Roll (plus Runaways Live in Japan)
Heart - Dreamboat Annie
Pretenders - Pretenders & Pretenders II
Fleetwood Mac - Rumors & Fleetwood Mac
Blondie - Eat To The Beat
L7 - Bricks Are Heavy
Gogos- Beauty And the Beat
Girlschool - Hit And Run
Cyndi Lauper - Shes So Unusual (her voice is amazing!)
Carole King - Tapestry (one of few albums where Every song is good)

and I think my all time favorite female singer whose voice was absolutely haunting was Karen Carpenter from The Carpenters. cant name a specific album of theirs unless you count greatest hits. Id add Bangles to but same thing unless you include greatest hits.

What is a women's album? Only females or a female singer that could have males in the band?

I like Puscifer and there albums have Maynard as lead singer but also have as a co-lead Carina Round who is now credited as a permanent member of the band on their last album Existential Reckoning for which she also wrote some of the songs. I guess because I am not into rap/R&B/pop music it's harder to find female led rock and metal bands.

Now more historically stuff from Janis Joplin, Debbie Harry, Stevie Nicks, Joan Jett even early Alanis Morrisette stuff etc. are great.
