There are many individual songs by female artists that I love, but I don't own too many albums. I like songs by Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush, Nico, Blondie, Anne Murray, but mostly own a selection of singles by these artists.

Some specific albums:

Linda Ronstadt: "Heart Like a Wheel" and "Silk Purse" (or just get "Best of the Capitol Years", which packages all her Capital material together on 2 cds -- the remaster sometimes sounds a bit tinny)

The Ronettes: "Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes Featuring Veronica"

'til Tuesday: "Coming Up Close: A Retrospective" -- 'til Tuesday may not exactly fit the criteria for the topic, as they were more a band that featured a female vocalist/bassist/lyricist. However, they were driven by Aimee Mann, who is a talented solo artist in her own right.

Marianne Faithfull's Greatest Hits (I don't like listing compilation albums, but I played this one quite a bit)

Lights (debut EP)

Sinead O'Connor: "I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got" (I don't listen to this album anymore, but loved it back in the day)

Duffy: "Rockferry"

When it was first released, I enjoyed Alanis Morisette's "Jagged Little Pill". Now, I'd rather take a bullet to the head.

The Best of Sade (1994)

Love listening to album and prefer it over her individual records leading up to that. I prefer the songs put together for the overall songs on those albums
