Jared Spurgeon has 54 Career penalties minutes, despite being a defender playing 20+ minutes a night for the last 7 years(around 400 games).

The only NHL defender that's played significant minutes (5000 Minutes between 2010-2017) with less PIM is Chris Tanev, and he's played 2,500 less minutes. No one with 8000+ minutes like he has, is even close.

that IS bloody weird, and i never even thought of it before. And he almost ruined McDavid's career last night, but the Wild are just dirty...weird fact.

Although upon looking I see Flames and Senators have a similar situation.

Jerome Iginla and Matt Irwin are the only players with a surname beginning with "I" in the NHL right now.

That was even funnier in 2012, when there were 3 of those guys (Iginla, Irving, Ivanans) ... and all of them were playing for the Flames.

This may or may not be as weird as most other statistics shown here, but Jacob Trouba is 17th in the league in ATOI (23:59), while essentially playing in the second pairing. Not stunning, I know, but if you look down the list, there are lots of 1Ds behind him by a couple of minutes.

Might mean your third pairing isn't trust worthy. And it's Winnipeg, if you are a special teams guy your minutes are going to go up haha

What is this magic?

3 + 6 = 9
6 + 3 = 9

Also, 20 games, 20 PM.

Also NHL total. You have

23 games and that you can make from Golas (2) and points (3)
You have 21 PM. You can make from Goals (2) and assists (1).

Im sure, someone could find another mathematics examples.

I was actually quoting Prof. Quirrell from Harry Potter when he starts to turn to ash. There's actually a lot more freaky 'coincidental' math / number patterns in that stat line.

My actual reaction:
1. "What?"
2. "Oh, that's interesting, I guess."
3. "Wait, I didn't notice that part before."
4. "Holy ****, there's even more..."
5. "What is this magic?!?!?!"

Habs lost a game 10-0 and then won one 10-1. Our goal differential would have been the exact same with a 2-0 lost and a 2-1 win.

Nino, one of the most aggressive and annoying players on the Wild, and always to be found as the center of attention in post whistle scrums, has 4min. in penalties so far this year.

Nino for Lady Byng?

Question about giveaways and takeaways. If a player loses possession of the puck to an opposing team, under what circumstances will it be seen as a giveaway or a takeaway?

I mean while watching a game, you see a player losing puck couple of times, but after the game his stats show 0 giveaways.

I learned a couple days ago that the Blues have not played a rookie for even one game, according to nhl.com.

Has a team ever gone through a full season without a rookie playing a game?
