I’ve been able to ignore everything so when a coworker asked me about something apparently going on with texts or something and I didn’t know who or what he just walked away

I’m assuming Brown or Brady with deflategate but not sure
AB is an idiot and contacted the artist from the SI story via text Wednesday night.

Keep ignoring it because it will just give you a giant headache

The reason is because these Patriots "fans" are far too entitled. All they know is winning. They expect to win and don't care how they do it. When anything threatens to derail their expectations, we get exactly what is going on right now.

It is obnoxious especially to most of the media who remember the dark times in Boston sports.

Spot on......and I find myself shaking my head quite a bit at the folks I grew up with who have somehow also adopted this mindset. It's one thing if you are a fan under the age of 30. The good times, the winning, the sellouts......it really is all you know. But most of my friends are in their 40s and should know better. I had to call one of them out the other day for making fun of NFL teams that supposedly can't sell out their homes games. It really wasn't all that long ago that Pats home games were blacked out locally because they couldn't sell out the smallest stadium in the league.

Sometimes I wish I wasn't so sports-obsessed. I'd love to be able to just watch the games, and ignore everything else during the week. Unfortunately, I basically have an addiction and feel the need to read almost everything I can get my hands on.

Sure I want the Pats to win but I do not want them to do so at any cost that would cause harm to anyone

I was going to follow up on my post and say I think the Pats and the fans treat the media the same way, as if they are irrelevant, which I think really gets on the media's nerves and puts an us again them mentality into their coverage

I don't think the Pats think the media is irrelivant. I think the Pats believe there is a time and a place to interact with the media and when it isn't respected, they don't get access or the soundbites they want.

This is when we see individual media members get pissed off and rant about being "snubbed"

It is the media's job to cover the team from every angle, good or bad. The issue with these kinds of stories is that you have your normal beat writers and writers and publications who have an agenda and are looking for anything to absolutely trash an organization for a variety of reasons, most of which are silly.

The Patriots are the perfect case study to use in Journalism and PR classes.

I am. The Broncos are the only non-Boston team I'm a fan of (born and raised in Dorchester). Does that change anything about my post?

no I was just curious bc Peyton Manning was accused of assault by his trainer and I doubt many denver fans protested him winning a superbowl for them. I bet they also cheered on Brandon Marshall while he was a Bronco

To be honest it's because you guys (most) have tunnel vision and because they win they never do anything wrong, have lapses in judgement or just flat out do stupid things. Because they win many of you never seem to hold them accountable for anything....every single thing/situation is downplayed.

I don't think any Pat fans had a clue AB was going to be on the team a few weeks ago. It's obviously a lot of drama. If they cut him, whatever, the plan before the season was to get Brady another ring. However, this media circus surrounding AB is largely bc he is a Patriot since all these stories are coming out now.

There was a circus following him before he became a Patriot. That victim mentality that Pats fans have is crazy sometimes.

Unfortunately, we live in a time that is completely cancel culture. If you disagree/are offended by someone or something they said, just raise a stink about it until that person is fired and removed from their job. It's the weakest form of society, IMO. We as rational people should be able to get along with and accept people with different views and opinions, but we don't. It's literally intolerance because people are unwilling to accept differences.

You throw a healthy dose of crazy on top of the intolerance and you get this situation.

There was this thing called The Crusades a while back where a million people were killed largely because they held different beliefs.

I fee like we have improved.

that's true, but lets not pretend him joining the Pats didnt escalate that

You mean as a story develops and more evidence comes out, the story gets more attention?

Laughable to imagine its because of the jersey he wears. I hear AB's name in my news feed about the same amount now as I did 2 weeks ago. More-so today because of recent developments.

I think the Patriots are a lighting rod, anything they do get much more media coverage and attention than any team.

Being rational in 2019 is offensive to some people. IDK why I cant like posts but this is a good one.

All I know is that this Sunday I want a win more than any other time in my life. Including Super Bowls.

My Mom , who has terminal cancer, will be attending her first game in attendance to 'see her Tom'.
All her grandsons got together and got seats and will be with her. It is one of her wishes. Good on them!

They've arranged for seats, transportation, handicap access , portable wheelchair and got her a Brady jersey and other Pat's gear to wear.
If need be they'll carry her into Gillette.

So if 'Nonnie' from section 107 comes up on a screen. A tiny frail little old lady surrounded by a bunch of young guys, thats my Mom.

Just got word from my sister that the Patriots have somehow followed this on social media and reached out to us. They are setting my Mom and her escorts up with 'on field passes' for the game and some other goodies.

I got nothing but incredible deep appreciation for whoever at Gillette is making my Mom's dream come true this Sunday. I'm so grateful I could cry.
