I know UCF would love to schedule those games but those teams won't schedule them unless they do a one and done at their place. We get the Georgia Tech, Pitt, North Carolina and Maryland's who are willing to do a 1 and 1. UF and FSU won't play us here in Orlando and we shouldn't have to only go there to play them.

Why not?

Because we are a program that's had good success lately and doesn't need the money of a one and done deal. We have built up enough respect that we can get 1 for 1 deals with most programs, unfortunately the biggest ones will only do those with a select few and we aren't at that table.

What do you go by when you rank teams? Obviously as a UCF homer I like to go by record and besides Wisconsin they have the best record. Then for me if you have a bad loss that drops you and you can make it up some with quality wins. So for me I have it

1. Wisconsin
2. UCF
3. Alabama (good loss but no great wins)
4. Georgia (somewhat bad loss, average wins)
5. Oklahoma (bad loss but great wins)
6. Clemson (worst loss but really good wins)
7. Auburn (great wins but 1 really bad loss one good)
8. Miami (really bad loss and average wins)
9. Ohio State (really bad loss and a good loss with average wins)
10. USC (bad loss with another loss and below average wins)

I don't like Alabama and don't think they belong at 3 as they have just 1 good win but the loss isn't that bad. Oklahoma and Clemson have much better wins than Alabama or Georgia but much worse loses.

^^^I think my rankings are pretty self explanatory

A 2 loss Auburn over Wisconsin though? No matter how good their wins are they still lost two games. I couldn't put them in front of two of the teams they beat right now but I do expect them to beat Georgia and they'll get in over Alabama.

Wow the disrespect on Miami. I know they’re probably gonna lose to clemson and a bad loss to pitt (which was predicted by most) but still

Because it's inherently unfair and part of the problem. Big conference school always plays at home (a huge advantage) and wins, then everyone points to that as proof the mid majors can't compete. Also if a D1 mid/Upper mid major team can go undefeated and not be in the 4 team playoff system than D1 is a complete and total sham. Make D1 the 5 or so f***ing power conferences and make the mid majors their own tier like FCS. At least that would be honest. And finally we all know the real national championship game is being played a few weeks from now when Army plays Navy (Air Force vs Citadel should be scheduled as a 3rd place game).

O'Korn is so ****ing bad. Evans was wide open and he still threw it late and high. Absolutely terrible.
The game was already over when O'Korn was announced as the starting QB. If Harbaugh honestly thought O'Korn gave him the best opportunity of winning, then wow. For a 5th year starter, he always looked as if he never learned a thing beyond his freshman year.

Thankfully Speight is now transferring (Thank God!), and O'Korn will be mercifully gone, so with Peters & McCaffery coming up, hopefully we can finally have a QB again.

Barrett and Weber both injured by camera operators on the sidelines Saturday.

You would think a coach who was SO concerned about player safety after their Purdue game would make sure his own backyard is safe.

Boise State has had far more success than UCF and even they couldn't get 1 and 1 deals. They had "neutral site" games against Georgia in Atlanta (Boise State won) and Virginia Tech in Maryland (Boise State won.) They did get a home and home with Oregon about 10 years ago but why should Florida and Florida State agree to a home and home with UCF or USF? They schedule each other and sometimes Florida will schedule Miami in the non-conference. They don't need to schedule a home and home because FIU, FAU or some other school in the Southeast will be more than happy to take a giant pay day to lose by 50 to them.

If you want to play them, play them there. If you don't, they don't care, they don't need UCF. If UCF wants to play quality competition in a home and home start scheduling other Group of 5 schools like Boise State, Fresno State, SDSU, Ohio, Troy etc. that would be willing to do it or see if some of the middle to lower tier Power 5 schools would be willing. Try to get Mizzou or Duke or Purdue.

Wisconsin has played BYU on the road, a few times at UNLV, at Fresno State, a game against Northern Illinois in Chicago, a game against Bowling Green in Cleveland, at Cincinnati and they typically play a game at Hawaii at least once every 4 years. These games have all happened in less than 20 years.

Get creative. Offer a 4 game deal where you play 3 on the road but get a game at home. Not all Power 5 teams are only willing to play at home. You just have to find them and you have to be willing to make a deal that might not be completely "fair" but will allow you to play top competition.

I'm sure UCF would love to do those early season kickoff games vs Georgia or someone in Atlanta or Dallas.

We would love to play an early season game in Atlanta or Dallas but we haven't been invited yet. We have played at UF and FSU but that was well over 10 years ago when we were trying to get the program going like FIU and FAU are. Now that we've been top 25, played in a NY6 bowl we feel like we should get a better shake from those schools are we are closer to their level.

We have scheduled 1 for 1 with Mizzou, South Carolina, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, NC State, Stanford, Miami, Georgia Tech and BYU. We did a 2 for 1 with Texas, we've gotten Virginia Tech and West Virginia in the past. Even Penn State till they backed out of coming here. As far as other G5 we play FIU and FAU who are two of the better CUSA teams. I can't see is scheduling SD State or Fresno and don't see them us, that's a lot of money for travel for each team and being G5 we don't generate the money for that, with Stanford we make more for the game so makes more sense.

We have home games to fill, we can't go on the road to play our games to prove a point. That's why we get the lesser P5 ones who are willing to come here and it gives the fans a bigger name to see. Unfortunately if the team isn't as good that year we get dinged for playing weak P5 schools.

Okay say you’re a top P5 school. Why would you want to schedule a team that could be 12-1 or could be 0-12? Especially given how far out football schedules

Because we are in Orlando so you get to showcase yourself in front of the best recruits and you can hit the road all week prior and after.
