Big Game Story: WCSF’s / PDF’s Round 2 Game #2, BATTLE SO. CAL. The Los Angeles Kings won Game 1 with a late goal and overtime winner from Marian Gaborik, but lost a key defenseman in the process and might be a bit shorthanded as the Anaheim Ducks try to grab a home split at Honda Center before the series shifts up I-5 to Staples Center. Los Angeles had some offensive issues earlier in the season. Since the NHL returned from a break for the 2014 Sochi Olympics and the arrival of Gaborik before the NHL Trade Deadline, the goals have started to come. The Kings are actually tied for second among the 16 playoff teams at 3.62 goals per game. Anaheim coach Bruce Boudreau felt his team played well in Game 1, and after watching video of the game, his beliefs were bolstered. The Ducks split the non-blocked shot attempts (Fenwick) at even strength with the Kings, an area in which Los Angeles was expected to have a sizable advantage. The Ducks also had some obvious great chances that did not end up in the net.
The KINGS need to remind DUCKS, KINGS FANS and THEMSELVES which team won a Stanley Cup Championship in 2012. GO KINGS GO !!!

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

Kings need to be strong early out. If we take game two then things will look really good. Hopefully they don't expose Shultz too badly.

Mad props on that GDT. That's one great starter.

Good luck tonight, fellas. (you'll need it :sarcasm:) Looking forward to another nail biting, alcohol inducing game.

I think the key will be the forwards. They need to backcheck HARD all game, because our defense will have a lot of trouble slowing down Anaheim's attack. They're simply too fast for us, and it will take a five-man commitment for the whole game.

CNBC + Martinez

Does anyone know if tonight's game will temporarily air on CNBC if the Rangers-Penguins game runs past 10:00pm EST? I know NHL Network and nbcsports.com can be used for this situation. I was just wondering if there was anything definitive out there regarding CNBC being used or not.

Seems like Alec Martinez falls into the category of - "he's a good player but there is always someone better coming along" - despite the fact that Martinez has steadily developed into a pretty solid all around d-man while the others simply haven't (yet - in some cases) proven to be better players.

Who would have thought that a top 4 D of Doughty, Muzzin, Voynov and Martinez would emerge during the playoffs? Can they carry the load all the way to a championship, if Mitchell and/or Regher remain injured?

It was an idea. I didn't say it was a good idea.

Doughty gets all the press, but AMart has been almost as good as Doughty during the second half of the season up until now. He's super poised, almost Scott Niedermeyer-like in the defensive zone. In the offensive zone, he's much more decisive than Doughty. He gets his shots through and steadily contributes. In my mind he has jumped right past Voynov and Muzzin on the depth chart.

Have not seen anything on our injuries, Willie and Regher, what are the injuries and how long are they expected out.

I thought Mitchell was just a muscle pull and the way Sutter talked about him, it didnt seem as though he was that far off from coming back. RR, i have no clue, i didnt even see where he got injured last game.

Great point
McNabb and Bodnarchuk both had great seasons.
So did Loverde for that matter.
Statistically Loverde and Bodnarchuk were one of the top pairings in the AHL this year.
But when the big club gets their mind set on given players tough to change that.
just habit
