It's all about 1 guy. JT Miller's line isn't on fire but they're fine. Garland/Joshua are great. If Pettersson is going, that's 3 good scoring lines.

He's actually a liability at this point.

When could you ever say that about who is supposed to be a 25 year old franchise centre?

Again not all on desmith the PP and such is a problem and has been, but you cannot go with desmith in game two. His positioning is just awful, like not even in the same galaxy as demko or even a competent backup.

This looks like spencer martin. Either rutherford needs to get a higher end backup or Ian clarke only works well with demko. There is no control in his game when he gets set for a save.

I think he was bagged and didn’t want to risk getting caught being chased out from behind the net. He’d just had a long shift.

It's mostly the fact that the $11 million 100-point C is playing like a giant turd.

If Connor McDavid had like 1 ES goal and 5 ES primary points in his last 20 games, the Oilers would look like they had a shitty offensive build, too.

Again, isolating it to one player is myopic. You've just shifted the lens from DeSmith to Pettersson.

They lack shooting talent throughout their line-up. It's what happens when you overpay 3rd liners and fill out with defensive defenders. They try to play the game to a stand still while they're top5 set is not on the ice and that simply isn't good enough in terms of offense.
