Talent wise this is still a winnable series, but there is a distinct difference in the way this team has played in front of Demko vs Desmith/Silovs.

Demko brings a calm confidence that neither of the backups do, and I think that's ultimately what sinks us.

This is really, really unfortunate. This is the first time since the 2009/2010 season with Andrew Raycroft (+ Sanford & Sabourin before him) where our backup is very clearly leagues behind our starter, and our starter of course gets hurt game 1.

I still have faith we're the better team, but there's zero shot this team can get anywhere past the 2nd round without Demko.

you know what

DeSmith is an IFA, if he still wants some money, it’s time to shine.

I’m asking league average goaltending, don’t let in the first shot after the team scores a goal

If our defence plays like game 1, we can win.

Oftentimes in the playoffs, the opposing team focuses on the starting goalie so much that they forget about the backup goalie. It’s happened before too. Adin Hill last year, Cam Ward in 2006, Halak in 2010, Jordan binnington in 2019. Our depth and defence is good enough to get past this round too

Always fuggin injured man. He's barely played at 28 years old. You pretty much have to go out and get another starting goalie due to his unreliability.
I f***ing thought we had a few mores left of Demko. Cory Schnieder was even 31 before injuries derailed him.

This franchise needs a successor asap

DeSmith has only played 1 NHL playoff game in 2022 for the Penguins against the Rangers. He actually did play very well and it was a 2 OT, 4-3 win for the Penguins.
