I think Snyder could EASILY leverage the team just fine with a value of ~3.5 billion, to buy out Fred or whomever he wanted to honestly.

The Glazers bought Man United with NONE of their own $. Snyder may not be cash flush to buy them out, but he could pull the strings if he wanted to.

And as for your adoration of Fred Smith, you know he’s a steadying influence in an NFL boardroom how exactly?

If he was so steadying, where was this sudden public display of human rights heroism before the country blew up in March? It’s all very tainted with self serving even for Fred.

In a normal situation, sure he could borrow and leverage to buy out the shares. But imagine the bank taking on a $1.2B loan with the name issue hanging out there, with the revenues dropping like a lead balloon, with the stadium empty, with Snyders track record of chaos and dysfunction. Didn't Glazer buy Man U after he won a Super Bowl? Slightly different investment risk for a bank, no? Thats going to be a hard sell for a bank to invest, nothing like when Glazer bought ManU.

As for Fred Smith, here's one recent quote:
According to a person familiar with the relationships between Snyder and the team’s minority owners, Smith’s interest in divesting would be particularly difficult for Snyder to accept.
“Dan admires and idolizes Fred Smith,” the person said.

I read another article which I cannot find to link you to, but it talks about how the minority owners have been helpful in things like bringing Gibbs back in when he returned, initiating the conversation to bring in Rivera, other things like that.

It's one thing to say businesses like Fed Ex and Nike are looking to profit over BLM. I'd say its more like, they are looking to avoid losses. Tomatoe Tomahtoe. But I also suppose how one views corporate reaction to BLM is probably could also be aligned with how one views BLM in general.

You think he can’t pull together the $....agree to disagree.

On Fred Smith he’s waited 20 years to make a name change power play on the back of BLM. He seems just as bad as the rest of the people trying to profit off the movement.

If Fred Smith had spoken out against the name 20 years ago, its likely you and plenty of other people would have criticized him for that. So when is the right time for a minority owner to speak out?

For some people, there is never a right time for changes that they don't agree with.

Well there's always someone willing to make a payday loan for 78% APR. Its a little different when you're talking $1.2B. A few points higher interest on that could be a deal breaker, but sure its "possible".... But until he gets his corporate sponsorship situation back in order, I'd say no one is touching this mess.

rather he had done that instead of a blatant PR move like this.

Guess I’ll check it out on TV. Never going there again.
It's such a terribly awful game-day experience, and honestly a new stadium doesn't really fix most of the issues. I don't care if the concourses are nicer or the seats are more comfortable or if the acoustics are better because it's still going to be in the middle of nowhere, parking and traffic are still going to be completely awful, public transit is still going to be essentially useless, and there's still going to be nothing to do before or after the game. I don't even take free tickets if offered at this point (and haven't for a number of years).

This is why I spend my money on Capitals games now, win or lose my girlfriend and I still have a good time because we always have stuff to do before and after the game. FedEx sucks for that you’re pretty much stuck there. I have had some good times tailgating at FedEx though I will say that.

The Washington Redskins are close to having a new name "sooner than later", a source said Saturday night. Earlier in the day Yahoo's Charles Robinson reported a name could be announced within 24 to 48 hours. After Washington announced July 3 it would review its name, the feeling was it would be a quicker process. Multiple sources said owner Dan Snyder had started talking to the league about this three weeks ago. Snyder had once wanted an Arena League team, intending to call them the Warriors.

I like Warriors.

Fred Smoot and Chick Hernandez leaning heavy into the Red Wolves being the new name.

Lake Lewis doing the same, I guess the Red Wolves really was an astroturfing event. Surprised at the team being so sophisticated.

Red Wolves does absolutely nothing for me either way, but then the apathy that Dan Snyder has injected into my once fiery passion for the Redskins is complete.

Doesn't honor Native Americans or the Military either, so, whatever Ron.

Redwolves is a meh from me as well but nothing suggested so far is as bad as Wizards so whatever.

Actually if it’s Redwolves it might be cool if they steal the howl from the movie The Program. That movie came out during my senior year of HS football and we spent the rest of the season howling and quoting that movie. Good memories.

Red Wolves is better than RedTails but worse than Warriors.

There have to be other options, though.
