kept waiting for the yotes to tie it up, Congrats VV on the shutout
got a little lucky that nothing went in on those scrambles

low event game for sure, not much action
but at least no one got hurt unless Kuzy's hand from OV's pass did some damage
go on home and try to rest up for TOR sunday

Vanecek would be an excellent starter for a Playoff team whose Playoff route went through Coyotes, Devils and Blue Jackets. But... below 80% SV in his last 3 of 4 games against actual Playoff teams (MIN, TOR, BOS and CAR). That's brutal.

Glad he's getting his confidence back because we likely need both of our goalies in the Playoffs.

The difference between Vanecek (+0.04 dFSv%) and Samsonov (-0.60) is quite large right now.

For reference, that difference is about the same difference as Darcy Kuemper (+0.70) or Andrei Vasilevskiy (+0.64) vs. Vitek Vanecek. In other words, Vanecek has played better than Samsonov by the same margin that Kuemper/Vasilevskiy have played better than Vanecek.

So why shouldn't Vanecek be the starter at this point? He has clearly separated himself from Samsonov in terms of results, just as Kuemper/Vasilevskiy have separated themselves from Vanecek.

I'm not saying you should fully trust Vanecek. His results are average, and average goalies in general shouldn't really be trusted. But average is better than , which is what Samsonov has been this year.
