This is a voting to determine the best players of the Montreal Canadiens last season and their ranking versus each other. The weighting of regular season and playoffs (sample size vs importance) is up to you. In order to participate, send me a PM with a list of the 5 players you consider the best on your team in the order you would rank them. The point system I am going to use: 5 points for every 1st place vote, 4 points for every 2nd place vote, 3 points for every 3rd place vote, 2 points for every 4th place vote and 1 point for every 5th place vote. Rankings posted in the thread will not be considered, PMs only. Please put "Montreal Canadiens" (or "Canadiens de Montreal" if you prefer) in the "Title" field of your message.

Looking for forward to your ballots!

EDIT:

Two questions keep coming up, so a clarification is in order:

1) The voting is open until Saturday, July 25th. You can still send in your ballot on that day. Don't complain if I don't count your vote when you send it in on Sunday 26th or later.
2) We're ranking the players' performances in the 2014-2015 season, so it doesn't matter whether a player is still with the team now or not.

Our #1 C Davey AINEC.

Why not just make a poll?

Because the OP intends to do this for all teams, and MAYBE because he wants to avoid the bandwagonning effect. Also because sending PM's is a bit more "committal" than simple polls. Also, he's a mod, which means he can probably stock 3000 messages or something like that.

Good calls. To sit down and figure out a ranking you have to send in strikes me as more likely to inspire a serious effort and to prompt people to put in more thought than in a poll where you simply click on one of the given options.

BTW I can 'only' stock 500 messages.

You think Petry and Gallagher

#2D/#3D and #2RW

Are more important than a potential #1C and definite #1LW?

Who else do we have at LW? At C?

Don't understand at all.

Gallagher was easily better than Galchenyuk last season.. Petry only played 20'ish games for us tho so i wouldnt include him.

Galchenyuk [mod] showed absolutely no competitiveness in his game and was more often than not a non-factor on the ice.

I would also have put Plekanec in front of him, but he was so bad in the playoffs I wouldn't include him neither.

21 ballots from you Canadiens fans at this point, which makes you the #1 among the ten teams polling so far. One of the biggest fan bases in the NHL and on HFBoards and it certainly shows!

Last year

1 - Carey Price
2 - PK Subban
3 - Max Paccioretty
4 - Thomas Plekanec
5 - Jeff Petry
6 - Andrei Markov
7 - Brendan Gallagher
8 - Alex Galchenyuk
9 - Nathan Beaulieu
10 - David Desharnais (which is a depressing rank for one of your top 2 center but let's face it, he has more impact than a Brian Flynn or JDLR).

Was pretty much my concensus list.

Curious who the one ballot was that didn't have Subban or Pacioretty in their top 5
