I’ve heard that he’s done nothing but improve during college. He’ll likely need some seasoning but there’s nothing wrong with that.

Excited to see him, but I'm sure he'll be down in Rockford quickly unless he worked something out that prevents that...Hawks have a lot of young decently promising D in the system and, in addition to DeHaan, who thank God will be gone soon, I would also move Murphy while teams are overpaying to make a run at it.....he has an attractive salary to keep him, but he's really average at best and we have to start seeing if some of these youngans can sink or swim.

Murphy isn't getting moved this trade deadline, especially after leaving the ice on a stretcher the other day.

As to here come the Giants ...

Alex Vlasic 's nick- nanec should be shrimp as he is ONLY a mere 6'6 ...compared to Harding at 6'7 and Crevier at 6'8...

I guess this makes Del Mastro and Regula "smurfs"( which is technically tiner than a mere"shrimp")...

It us goibg to be fun watching tgevooos trying to get through thus Forrest of talk trees.

BTW....supposedly no offense Crevier has put up 12 points (2g 10a ) in last 10GP !

The stretcher was precautionary....he's got a concussion....so, yes, it would be a crap shoot for the playoff run in terms of when he can resume play....

With Alex here we can look forward to our other kids on D and forecasting when they will be arriving in System,,,,,,,, This year/Next Year : Alex Vlasic , Louis Crevier , Slava Demin (If signed ) 2023 : Wyatt Kaiser , Ethan Del Mastro , Nolan Allan , 2024 : Connor Kelley ,Taige Harding , Michael Krutil (returning ) . Real solid group considering kids on Hawks now and Ice Hogs. Never hurts to add more but Center Ice and forwards are the concern going forward .

He said you need stars to win and mentions Patrick Kane and then mentions Edmonton who can’t win anything with the best two players in the world? He even says that. How does that make sense.

Huh because you need stars and the quality talent. We're you trying to put this in the Trade thread, not sure what this has to do with Vlasic

But he was on a rant that's right, if you tear down and get rid of tons of talent you win nothing for close to 10 years. That's how it goes for everyone who does it in this league

It was in the Vlasic podcast that’s why. But you get stars by being awful so his explanation of not tearing it down because you need stars to win doesn’t make sense to me

Tampa didn't get rid of St Louis and Vinny Lecaviler when they stunk and got stars, Mario was there to start still with Sid, and enough veterans were there like with Chicago.

It's been a point I've madr and I've seen others recently on a main thread make. Tear downs trading your stars away to be bad and get new stars doesn't lead to winning. All the teams who do that at best win 1 playoff series in 5-7 years. That's their high point. Even if you are lucky like the Oilers or Toronto and the pick is playing like a superstar, if you don't keep a star or enough talent around that guy and teams likely floundering for years as terrible.

No team who has won a cup in the cap world after tearing down. I'd put the Kings as the most closest since they did say they were rebuilding around 2010ish but they didn't have a lot to tear away.

I think on that pod Scott said if they're good maybe in 10 years and yeah that's how long I think it would take to be a contender again if they tore down ans traded Kane off & maybe Cat.

Listened to Scott and Mark on the podcast talk about this and others yesterday. Laz is an absolute moron.
Laz just cuts Scott off like a moron relentlessly. Scott is the only one of the two who knows his stuff. Laz writes fluff stuff and seems to know meh about hockey. And plays faves. I could on but I really wish he would just go back east.

Tampa drafted Hedman 2nd overall and stamkos 1st . Blackhawks had Toews 3 and Kane 1.

I don’t think you tear it to the ground and go to the cap floor but the idea that you can get stars other ways is just not happening. It’s luck, and it’s being really f***ing bad. Toronto and Edmonton sucked for a while and have made bad decisions and gotten unlucky sometimes too. It’s not like they haven’t put themselves on the cusp of winning. It took Edmonton a long time but they’re here now. Luck is involved. They’re still relevant now. Arizona, Buffalo, these teams aren’t just bad because of one single thing

It's not one thing for sure, it's the many moves different from some rebuilds and real tearing down ones. You can see trends if you actually follow them.

Tampa and Chicago got high picks... did they get them the same way Toronto, Buffalo, NJ, several others did? Having nobody elite or no solid base of talent in their 20s when your stars join a club... always leads to more losing for half a decade.

They are on the cusp of winning? I think your view of that is well off when those 2 teams you're talking about have 1 playoff series win in the last 5 years both since acquiring those winning pieces. It's not just about being smart or lucky after you get those picks it matters how you get those picks too and how you construct the roster that potential star joins.

How did LA get good potential stars, yet they still have talent I'd put them on a better track than many other current rebuilds.

I've smart element both Chicago and Pittsburgh had in their favor that also seems always forgotten by the hype of the new fast young team... build the defense first, hopefully all the Vlasics and D men drafted the last 3 years can have some guys in a good spot in their mid 20s when th3 Hawks get another potential star or 2.

We used a 2nd on him, so you might as well sign him but I'm not holding my breath on his potential tbh. Everything I've read on him says he's more of what we don't need: a guy that can't handle the puck or do anything under pressure. If he can carve out a career as a bottom-pairing guy/PK specialist, I'd be happy with that.

there is no perfect formula to rebuild, a lot of it is random luck...being bad in the right drafts, having other good players around to support the young stars, a good coach or player hitting the market at the right time, etc
