Did anyone see the short video segment at the Sabres website featuring Leino in his loft space in Buffalo?

Say what you will, but Ville the human (not the hockey player) is a cool guy. He has fantastic taste, a lovely apartment, a killer stereo system, and I was really fancying his Rolex no-date Submariner. He even plays the guitar.

I like this guy a lot. Too bad it all went south.

It Humanized him for me for about twelve total minutes - then I remembered how much money he stole from us while perpetually passing blame and failing to take an ounce of responsibility for vastly underachieving.

His statline this year was abysmal. Tough to look at.

So who will be the first smartalec hipster to get his jersey when it's on clearance?

It's probably not a bad idea, actually. If we draft Reinhart, I bet they'd have a jersey exchange promotion. They should trick him into doing one final autograph signing. On blank letterhead so they can print an apology to each Leino jersey owner.

Yes, I had a similar reaction. That is what made that video piece such compelling viewing for me. I am used to seeing him only as a hockey player on ice with a Sabres sweater. It was strange to see him as a human in a different context, and frankly, he is my kind of guy. Hell, he even had his walls decorated with his own abstract expressionist paintings.

Too bad he has his other dark side: Ville the slacker hockey player.

Glad he's gone, but more for team chemistry reasons than for his individual lack of production. We don't need that laziness and personal unaccountability going forward. This is a classic case of addition by subtraction.

So he has a lot of interests other than hockey. Great.

Let's focus on guys who aren't so well rounded. More hockey obsessed guys please because I couldn't care less about them as human beings.

Could be wrong, but isn't this Ville's police escort out of town? :sarcasm:

I'm glad he's finally off the books or will be soon, we can't have any more players underachieve like how he did, now let's save up for more reasonable players after next season when and if we are ready to turn a corner

He had one timely breakout season in Philly then got paid. After that he played closer to his potential but probably a little worse than he should have been. Can't blame the guy for taking the money. It's on Darcy for maybe missing out on his target FA and reaching for Leino.
