Uh.... there's more to talent then just size.

But if he's even halfway decent, his size alone would make him a very intriguing prospect for us.

But he doesn't fit STANBOW's ideal type for Hawks d-men --ie. isn't small, fast, skilled PMDs who get overpowered and pushed around in our own zone and can't crease-clear--so he'll never play on a puck possession team like ours that Stan insists is the model for winning..

Yeah, Stan's only paying for his trans-Atlantic trip to Chicago to get his "laugh at the giant defenseman" kicks.

Where do you come up with this stuff?

Svedberg is a good skater for his size and could be a very nice surprise for some people. Been improving his overall play the last 3 seasons. Would describe his playing style as similar to Hjalmarssons'.

I'd be absolutely shocked if Svedberg didn't end up better than Chara. You heard it here first folks!

Can he skate like Bobby?

Imagine a player that is a combination of the best Bruins DMen? Shore + Orr + Bourque with the size and shot from Chara

scary thought

Only SIX MILLION DOLLAR? i thought the bidding STARTS at $98 million for 13 years,AND if he is so good why haven't the "desperate" Red wings or the "desperate" (for D-men) Prongerless Flyers gone 'all in" to get him rather than let sTAN take his time whether to sign him or not and for a likely puny 2-way minimum deal anyway?

I suppose if we can make fun of Svedberg as the next Chara,we can also ask the more important question: IS MARK MCNEILL the next anything?

Hjalmarrsson is a very good skater. May be able skate backwards around Svedberg.

Svedberg Elite Prospects -

A giant with incredible reach. Svedberg is among the very largest players in Swedish hockey today. A two-way defenseman in the Swedish junior league, but likely to develop into a more defensive minded type of player in the future. Skating and mobility is not impressive, but not as bad as someone would expect for a player of his large stature. He has average hockey sense, but decent enough positioning. Plays the body to some extent, but gets penalized a bit too much. A project that could turn out well if he continues to work on his mobility. Pretty active stick.

Not saying whomever wrote up the description for Elite is definitive however you would think anyone 6'9" has skating issues.

Seen him a couple of times in the SEL this past season and he's been pretty ok, still needs to grow into his body but if he ever does he should be a pretty solid shutdown d-man who with a bit of luck could turn out a real gem, better suited for the NA game than the SEL as well.
You also have to remember that these massive guys usually take their time to develop. Chara didn't exactly scream superstar his first couple of seasons in the NHL.
