Another 15 games and if he keeps it up, he should see NHL ice I'd hole. Lets not break our organizational promises about winning spots on the NHL team...

I see your point but the difference between him and for example Nylander or Asplund who need time to play against men in Ahl is that he played 4 years! Against men in shl in two different organisations and scored most goals in the league and had big playoffs.
My point is that he is ready to play nhl now after seeing him play 150 Times in different leagues. He Will score 25-35 goals /year in nhl. Just wait and see. Elias Pettersson had 0 games in Ahl and he doing pretty good. Olofsson is a better scorer then him.

SHL and AHL is not the NHL. You’re forgetting that we’ve seen him play in preseason against partial NHL teams and was barely noticeable, didn’t make his line mates better, nor did he create much himself.

Since he’ll have to play in the top 6 or PP specialist with his skills, he still has a lot he needs to improve on before you can pencil him into the Sabres lineup. As Taylor mentioned, he’s still hesitant with his decision making, which should improve as he gains confidence

Yes he has played four years against men. On international ice. I am sure he is more developed physically than Asplund and Nylander due to the fact that he has played so many years against men. Doesn’t mean he understands where to be without the puck, where to be in the d-zone, etc.

As for a comparison to Pettersson, you’re comparing a 7th rounder who had a great season in his Draft + 4 year to Pettersson who was drafted 5th overall after going almost a ppg in the Allsvenskan and followed that up by having one of, if not the best season by a 19yo in the SEL. This is not apples to apples. Olofsson may be a better shooter but he is by no means a better player or “scorer” than pettersson.

If Olofsson pans out and becomes a threat in the top 6 every night, this will defiantly make up for some of Murray's blunders.

Murray haters will have to admit he is one of Murray's accomplishments.

For a 7th round draft pick even to be worth an ELC, much less pushing for a roster spot, is pretty rare. The pick is already a win in my books even if Olofsson doesn't go on to have much of an NHL career, but the credit for that goes to the amateur scouting staff.

The one that drafted him was Fredrik Anderson, now coach in timra, who took timra from second tier to shl last season

ok i will remember that when anyone of you try to give credit to Botterill on any draft picks, it should be said for every GM then that every pick is done by amateur scouts.

Yes he is a better sniper/shooter. But there are many ways as we know(or maybe you don’t) to score goals. Pettersson is the more talented player and better overall scorer. This is evidenced by the fact that he scored 3 less goals in the same league as Olofsson despite being 3-4 years younger. He also makes players around him better.

I am very excited to have Olofsson and look forward to his contributions for the sabres. But you continually speak in absolutes about a guy who people in the hockey world have said needs some seasoning. If all hockey was is just shooting, then yes Olofsson would be in the NHL right now. But there is more to the game than that.

I can tell you are high on him. A lot of people are. But we have seen time and time again examples of kids being rushed to the NHL only to stall their development. Haven’t really had many, if any examples of players being seasoned in the AHL too long that it stunts their growth.

I’m very certain that when Olofsson gets the call up he will be up for good as he is a good player and brings an element we need. But there is no need to speak in absolutes as if you can see the future.

If Oloffson wasn't 23 with 200 games in the SEL, I would agree. It is my opinion he has earned a call up as a better
player than some active players on the roster today.

I can see him and nylander getting call ups when injuries hit it if the send Thompson down.

Are you looking for praise for Murray? This pick as a Swedish fan stated had nothing to do with Murray, it was one of our Swedish scouts. I will give credit that he listened and drafted him, might be the best thing he did. It’s really hard to find a bright spot from that Murray era. Not once during his tenure in nearly 4 years did we have a record better than 500. He also took Lemieux, Cornel, and Karabacek in the 2nd round in what could’ve been an impressive draft.
