Olofsson gunned a high-danger first-period chance just wide from the slot, then scored here in the second on a PP one-timer high-glove from outside the right circle. Even broke his stick earlier in the PP and was likely using someone else's stick for the goal.

Victor Olofsson may be a stranger to the average NHL fan, but for us who follow hockey all over the world, he’s really emerged as an elite shooter and overall great player during his time in the Swedish Hockey League, playing for the Frölunda Indians. Olofsson was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in 2014, going 181st overall in the draft. If he gets the chance in the NHL next season, I believe he could be come a real steal for the Sabres.

When you look at Olofsson, you may not be very impressed with his size. At 5’11, 172lbs, he’s not the most menacing player you’ll ever see but let’s be real here, the big, imposing and most importantly, slow players of the past are becoming obsolete. Instead, we’re heading into a new generation of hockey players.

The modern player is a bit smaller than the past but they posses amazing puckhandling and skating. Victor Olofsson falls into this category, an excellent skater and great puckhandler, with an eye for a great pass, I’m having a hard time believing the Sabres organization aren’t paying attention to his every move.

But we haven’t gotten into the juciy bits yet; his shot. Holy cow! This kid can really, and I mean REALLY shoot the puck. Now when you look at this goalscoring stats in the SHL, they may not seem that impressive. 20 goals in the last 71 games isn’t amazing, but the sweet thing with stats is that there are always to sides to it, and the other side of this stat is that he’s scored 11 of these goals this season, in just 20 games.

Now you’re listening. He’s also got the famous “X-factor”. A big game player. In the first round of the SHL playoffs last year, he scored the game winning goal in OT in Game 7. He had a great playoff run, scoring 12 points in 14 games, showing he’s got ice in his veins.

20 points in 22 games

Might we finally have hit on a late round pick? When can we bring him over?

Would be nice if we hit on a 7th rounder. Everyone says hes a PP specialist which would kind of suck but it wouldn't be the worst thing for this team atm.

If he does come over will he go straight to Rochester or Buffalo? SHL is comparable to the AHL already no?

He's dependable at getting into certain spots and delivering a quick, hard, accurate shot.

I didn't see his goal today, was watching the 1-2 battle with Vaxjo and Farjarstad instead.

His shot is insane right? I mean I watch only the highlights you guys post but most goals seem to be going top corner...

Also thanks for the updates, anything on Asplund, haven't seen anything recently?

He has pro release, velocity and accuracy plus the ability at the SHL level at least to get in tight to deliver.

As for Asplund, he ate an MMA forearm to the face against Vaxjo and is out for this weekend at least.

2+1 today. PPG. Kid is on fire. 2nd in SHL in goals.
Also means he's top3 under 24 in points per game.

We may have hit on a late rounder

What does his contract look like if we sign him for next season? Two years? And can he be sent down? Or has that ship sailed by now?
