Good return. What I want to know, is if this deal was so close to happening, why the **** did we elect to play Vermette tonight and risk lighting a first round pick on fire and pissing on it, in the event that he got hurt.

I hope Morgan has the balls to ask maloney this question.

Oddly, spoke to 2 NHL execs earlier this season who thought Dahlbeck should've been playing w/Hawks this season over current 5-6 guys.

Sounds familiar.....

Klas Dahlbeck is listed at 6-3, 207 pounds. Hawks' 3rd-round pick in 2011 (79th overall). Stay-at-home D-man w/some offense in his game.

Looks like a lefty as well^. Obviously not the center piece but good to have another D prospect in the pipeline after everyone either graduated or flamed out.

He's a leftie. Interesting battle for 3LD next season with Samuelsson and Gormley in the mix barring a Yandle trade.

count me in the 'eating crow' group...GMDM had a nice trade.

Maloney 1 - Haters - 0

I'll happily eat crow on this one. At least it got the trade board to shut up about their precious untouchable late 1sts.

We now should have a shot of drafting a Boeser or even Konecky/Sprong or some other faller from the teens.

This was about the return that was expected. Another LHD, so either Yandle or Gormley may be a part of a lot of discussions in the next 40 hours

Good thing Maloney waited for Kane to get injured. 1st rounder is well above my expectations.

The 1st is the important part. Happy to get it.

Sad to see Vermy go but I don't think I'd want to resign him in the offseason. Too expensive.

Hopefully the Hawks really suffer from the loss of Kane and barely sneak into the playoffs only to be bounced in round one. I'd really like this pick to be closer to 15 than 30.

On players like this I always like to see what the home team fans are saying about the player before they were traded. The Hawks fans seemed to think this guy could have been up and playing this year already, so I'm curious to see him in the lineup. He sounds similar to Campbell in that he's a bigger physical player and that's definitely what the Coyotes needed.

What was expected. Not sure about Dahlbeck's future here or the NHL in general.

More than I expected to get for Vermy straight up. Good trade, DM. Time to brush up on the second half of projected first rounders I suppose.
