ok..i see....I understand betting on nhl......whats illegal betting spot mean though? did they bet on baby fights or something? if you have money and you want to make a bet with someone whos right is it to tell you you cant?

If I'm not mistaken ( And I may very well be, I'm not all that familiar with American legislations) placing a bet through an unlicensed organized mean is illegal. In other words, calling your booky on a Sunday mourning to bet money on a few football games is illegal. Betting your coworker that the Packers will win next Sunday's game by a field goal and exchanging money afterwards person to person is legal.

Is that a Freudian slip? Associating mourning and gambling.

He's implicated as a witness, but damn if he was involved that would be wild.

So he's being "dragged" into it? Reminiscent of his skating style during the playoffs.

And yes -- why isn't this relegated to the out of town thread? Who cares, the foot dragger is no longer with us.

Sorta. His gambling style is very similar to his post season hockey play: bystanding.

Darkest Day in Habs History 2.0 avoided. Well done Bergevin, you sly dog. :sarcasm:

Imagine how long this thread would've been if he was still a Hab...

I shudder at the missed opportunity where our usual suspects could have written books about how Bergevin could have used the gambling implication/ bystander/ dragged in thing to try and project term, salary and restrictive movement covenants for Vanek.

So many Roman Numeraled threads that could have been.

Porn-film logic, mashed potatoes, dick-accusations, fake lawyering, the throwing out of figures while pretending to be an expert and gratuitous insults -- where are we going to find all of that lost entertainment now? :sarcasm:

Over/under on tears shed on RDS for the disgrace if Vanek was still a Habs player?

It's just Vanek... Even if he was betting on our games, he can't do **** to change the outcome, he just can just elect not to help the outcome.

If it were Carey Price betting on Hab's games, I'd be concerned.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's the key point, gambling on your own sport ( A la Pete Rose) versus any other kind of gambling. He certainly wouldn't be the first professional athlete to dabble in it, Michael Jordan was pretty legendary for gambling millions every year. Unless It's in relation with an illegal gambling ring of course which is an entirely different thing.

Betting on any thing is an issue in baseball. If you get in debt to a bookie and you are a player, you might be asked to throw a game or two in lieu if payment.

Hmm... Wonder if that explains Vanek's playoff showing?:sarcasm:

You are talking about our second highest scorer in the playoffs ? :handclap:

Maybe 8-12 minutes a game, playing on the third and fourth lines, and limited pp time had something to do with our loss to the Rangers .:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh: I will have to ask our coach that question. Why was it more important for you to make a stupid "I am in control" point than to win that series COACH? lol
