I went with Brisebois based on ceiling, because Corrado is 22 and hasn't proved that he is anything more than a #5/6/7 at the NHL level. I think Corrado has gotten hype ever since the 2013 first round series vs the Sharks and hasn't lived up to it. That said, he'll easily win this poll because that hype hasn't faded yet.

For me, I definitely see Corrado becoming a bottom pairing d-man, but even with his recent struggles I don't think it's outrageous to think he could possibly become a #4 d-man considering his tools. He's only 22 and still has time to develop as a defenseman.

As for Brisebois, I think his ceiling is a #4 d-man, and unlike Corrado he hasn't proven anything yet in pro hockey so that's why I have him ranked lower. He's probably my next pick after Corrado, slightly ahead of Subban because of the size factor.

Corrado. His development had plateaud a bit, but I thought he got back on track this season. Imo he has Bieksa type upside, without the toughness.

A bunch of blueliners all.with some ??? as prospects.

Corrado - ssfest, but has his development stalled?
Clendening - shown he can produce.at the AHL level, but that footspeed.
Subban - exciting player, but that size.
Brisebois - so unknown
Hutton - can he play defence?
Pedan - showed well in Utica, but those concussions.
Tryamkin - enticing package, but that Russian factor.

All prospects that imo have comparable floors/ceilings and.you'd have to think that at least one will emerge as a legit second pairing option over the.next couple of years. Sprinkle in Grenier and the Russian we just drafted and there's my next 9 picks or so.

It's gotta be Corrado here. His development has been a bit touch and go, but he's shown the potential to be at worst, an NHL defenceman of some sort...and with a hint of top-4 upside still about him...maybe.

After this is where it gets really interesting though.

It's really difficult to separate everyone now.

Corrado has the edge with Pro experience clearly but does not seem to have improved much the last two years.

Jasek, Subban and maybe Zhukenov have the 'top-line/pair' upside with very little chance of hitting it.

Clendening, Tryamkin, Pedan, Grenier have runs on the board at the pro level but have been inconsistent or have obvious deficiencies that may prevent a jump to the NHL level.

Brisboise and Hutton have the tools but will they be able to put it together at the pro level?

Those 9-10 guys are almost impossible to rank in consistently from here I think. Couldn't really argue with any order.

He was my 2nd and more logical choice but I went gut with Subban as another small guy with something to prove.

Been voting for Corrado for awhile but I have him in the same tier as Cassels, Kenins, Gaunce and Clendening so the order doesn't matter all that much to me.

Went with Clendening because, although I'm not sold on him, he does have one dynamic skill that the club needs and will get ample opportunity to show he belongs.

Have been very disappointed in Corrado in the last 18 months. Thought he was awful up here last year.

Clendening will bust.

He can't even defend properly in the AHL.

fair, hence I have Brisebois at 8 :)

I'd like to rate Subban here but I'm not sold he's going to get a fair chance in Utica. If he's given an opportunity to play every night, I have a lot of confidence in him as a player and think he'll rocket up the rankings.

Very curious to see how his season goes.

Subban has great tools, his offensive ability might even be very good among Nhlers.

What scares me is the way he handles larger forwards.

I watch some of his games this year as a draft+2 in junior, and he still had a lot trouble handling larger forwards in the junior level.

I'm pretty certain Subban can become a very good AHL offensive dman, beyond that ...

Right now I think both Clendening and Corrado will probably bust. Clendening has more upside, Corrado a bit more likely to make it.

Corrado may not match Clendening's passing, but he was better in almost every other facet of the game, except taking stupid penalties. Clendening takes the cake there. We probably lose one of these two to waivers in October so that Sbisa can play the right side. Exciting times.

Clendening and Corrado will be among the 8 defensemen the Canucks carry. Why would they be exposed to waivers?

Corrado's a steady defender and an easy choice in the poll, but I think Subban's ceiling is higher and that he'll have a greater career.

People assume we'll carry 8, I'm not so sure. Right now we have

Edler-Tanev
Hamhuis-Weber
Bart-Sbisa
Clendening
Corrado.

That's two RHD as our 7/8, maybe that's the plan, but I have doubts.
