I can’t even begin to understand the point of view that rerouting the entire farm club to an insane AHL travel schedule is worthwhile just for the, what, once or twice a year when a last-minute callup to the West Coast is a bit difficult on a gameday... (BTW, the time zones make it much harder to do this in reverse if the Canucks are out east and need to call a guy up from Abbotsford).

And on top of that, imagine a guy like Lind or Gadjovich having his current season in the Lower Mainland, where there are still radio-caller types who think these guys might be in the lineup next year.
1000%

you keep these guys out of the province and out of the conversation of radical right wing sports talk shows like tsn 1040

I really wish our management group would hire leaders to run this club. When we had the moose, and a player like Mike Keane on that team, it helped develop players like Burrows, Bieksa and Kesler. Wish our club would learn from its past history of success and failure.

Having an AHL club in the same city as the parent makes sense for teams that have very good prospects and for clubs that want to attract top college free agents. That doesnt describe the Vancouver Canucks unfortunately.
depends on each market. Given the location of Abbotsford to what their division rivals would be all in California and Tucson it’s not a great setup.

Works for Toronto, philly, Ottawa, etc, cause the farm team is also close to other ahl temas in addition to being close to the parent.

Vancouver doesn’t have that luxury.
