You misunderstood what I meant by "ballsy trade". I thought it was a terrific trade and required intestinal fortitude to complete. DeRozan was a great player and beloved by his teammates, especially Lowry. It wasn't an easy trade to make but it was the right one to make at that time. The luck I was referring to was Golden State having to play the finals without Kevin Durant the entire series, barring a few minutes in one game before he was reinjured. So "ballsy" and "luck" aren't mutually exclusive in this case.

LeBron's son is declaring for the NBA draft in spite of averaging 5ppg last season when he also barely played because of a cardiac incident during the season.

He's apparently hedging by not hiring an agent so he can go back to school (where he's attempting to transfer out of USC), but you know some team is going to draft him because of LeBron's promise to play a year in the league with his kid before he retires...

What an absolute clown show.

He's a legit 2nd round talent.

The big thing is that Bronny only wants to be drafted by a team that will actually develop him so he's having the conversations to find out who would pick him.

He might go higher on name, but he's not a 1st rounder according to most scouts.

I know he's not a 1st rounder, but at this point he's being drafted entirely on alleged potential offset by the scare of his heart issues and his otherwise thoroughly unimpressive limited-run college stats and the name value and attachment to his dad and the possible end of LeBron's playing career.

It's kind of dumb that he's even entertaining entering the draft now. His value really couldn't possibly get any lower short of him retiring because of health reasons given how entirely pedestrian his USC #s are. He would be much better served to forget the draft this year, transfer to a school that needs talent and is willing to work with him on shoring up the issues in his game, and have a year being something closer to an important contributor to raise his profile a bit. Then at least the optics of it will look good too. Because given what he just did last season and the uncertainty about his health (even if doctors say he's fine and shouldn't have any ongoing issues it's still preferable to have proof) it definitely feels like whoever might spend a 2nd on him would just be doing so hoping that they can lure LeBron in for that final year or two of his career more than they would be considering how much Bronny can actually contribute as a prospect.

I agree with Sampson. There are at least 2 excellent 7'2+ guys in '25 draft. Change is coming and GMs need to adjust quickly. Post defense is at its worst in recent years, which allows these big guys to dominate easily. There just hasn't been that big man talent recently.

Do we snag him with the late first rounder or find someone else we have he has moved up the board from a late second to early second late first rounder in some mock mash ups we get the luck of the lotto we could have potentially a great 1 2 punch with the other euro big men pf/c plus edey potentially could be the next Duncan Robinson combo . Or it could fail epically like taking barganni before all the Allstars and hall of famers we did

Edit- just read some articles saying we are targeting edey with the pistons second rounder so 32nd overall but after the sweet 16 run he's been on will he still be there

In fact, if we finish 6th, which now looks likely, we have about a 9% chance of getting the 6th pick, ad odd as that sounds. It's about a 9% chance for each of picks 1 through 4, and about a 55% chance of transferring the pick to the Spurs.

Yeah with end of benchers making like 10 million these days in the NBA there is no way he was ever approaching that prop betting.

The prop bets in question were 10 and 20K with bettors trying to bet 50K on a 20K limit prop.

I'm not saying that it is impossible, but unless he has a gambling addiction or owes someone, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Adding on to that that I (as a fan who doesn't live near Toronto and who has never met Jontay, seen him in person, never interacted with him in any manner at all etc) wanted to bet the under on one of those props (guy with a significant eye injury who was unlikely to even finish the game) makes the whole thing sound like a terrible prop is being blamed on the player.

If he is found to be innocent in all this, I hope that Silver is personally issuing an apology.

Season is finally and mercifully over.

Raptors finish 6th from the bottom and have a 9% chance at 1 (and Sarr).

The pick from Indy could be anywhere from 16th to 20th overall (depending on a random draw PLUS the results of the play-ins)/

The Detroit pick is 31.

If you’re an optimistic guy like me, you see pretty good chances at finding decent players with upside in a decidedly underwhelming but balanced draft at both the Pacers and Pistons picks.

Where the draft lacks in ‘locks’ and ‘ stars’ it’s pretty deep in talents that are in similar tiers, and most of the guys are 18-20 anyway, so have lotsa room to grow.

Crazy that one more Pacer loss or Sixers win woulda put Indy in the playin and their pick in the lotto.
