Yeah, college and professional football stadiums are perfect for this kind of an event. While, I completely understand of wanting to put the World Cup and Olympics all over the world, it surprises me at why they don't host in countries that can use existing infrastructure, instead of putting countries in massive debt building infrastructure that won't be used after the events are over.

FIFA can't rake in bribes if it's always held in one of a few countries.

Elites in countries like Brazil and South Africa are happy to throw a party for their rich friends at the public expense and personally profit off of corruption in the form of shady construction contracts and the like.

If it’s three nations bidding, do all three automatically get in? So if this does happen do USA, Mexico, and Canada all automatically go to the final?

I would imagine that only the USA would get the automatic bid, since they are the main host.

It should just be US/Canada if anything - Mexico's already had two WC's themselves that were both hideous in terms of organization and summer heat.

Vancouver and Chicago have announced today that they will withdraw their cities from the 2026 bid, both are pretty much "bombshell" announcements, especially Chicago

If rumors are to be believed, the Morocco bid is gaining momentum as FIFA changed the voting procedure to select future World Cup hosts, now every federation will get one vote. Africa will obviously vote in a bloc for Morocco and it is believed most of the Arab world will as well. Not only is it politically motivated but the likes of Sunil Gulati (who is still involved in the 2026 bid process) is not very popular in world football. Also, the bid is seen as too US-centric globally. Theoretically if Morocco can gain the support of CAF+AFC, they are practically there (they represent nearly 50% of the voting bloc)

However, the North American bid will generate A LOT of money for FIFA and I'm sure they will use that to their advantage

Morocco gain ground when they started agreeing to EVERYTHING FIFA wants--blank cheques and all

Anyone who does not like any city dropping out of the running needs to take a long look at the fact that most of what FIFA has done in the way of changes is just changed their lip stick. Their frame work of making lots and lots of money for FIFA is still as bad as it was--that has not changed--they have just worded the bi-laws now a certain way that only the top guys get bribes--Bladder is 100% behind morocco after an extended trip there a short while ago

Countries should force FIFA to play by the same rules as countries do for the Olympics

I really hope for Canada's sake we successfully get the bid. The momentum of soccer is growing across the country and this will only perpetuate that further.

Countries can try...but FIFA will just go somewhere else that plays by their rules, and we will all still watch when that first ball is kicked :dunno:

Nah. His kind don't give a shit about it when its awarded to them.

As he know they will lose, he's trying to take the moral high ground and cry "corruption" and "rapists".
