How about “Christian Pulisic may not be as good as advertised, but the Fed forces him on us.” Also “Weston McKennie therefore gets the short shrift, except when he’s his own worst enemy (COVID issue).” Some failures in team play, and maybe a perception that USA should be dropping 5 on every Central American nation (which is probably the really unreasonable expectation). Some of the rest of it is the issues with the American Hispanic population, but I doubt that’s what motivated the earlier comments here.
US Soccer overall has turf issues aplenty, plus we’re probably not too many months away from unearthing some major scandals based on the Federation possibly covering up sexual abuse among youth coaches. Anyone who’s watched the various NWSL scandals unfold know that one is coming, even though it should really already be here.
