By this point Boston will probably have had their spot officially locked up but considering how this team is currently playing, positioning might be on the line. Still 8 weeks away but it'll be here soon enough.

There's a bit of mental relief in knowing that the only material thing on the line is home ice in a theoretical 1v2 playoff series. If any scenario other than a Conference Final against Boston that goes to 7 games, catching them is academic.

Much more important that we not get caught from behind, and end up in a first round series against NYR rather than a 7 seed.

Overlooked in our current winning streak is Freddie's dominant play since his return. Such a difference having his rock solid steadying presence back there. Koochie was playing like a man possessed for a stretch but he's still very chaotic and had some rough lows after his injury. Freddie is a legit Vezina caliber goalie when healthy lately and we really missed him in the playoffs last year. Hoping he can stay 100% the rest of the year.
