Tricky for some of the Canes as they could slide from slightly overpaid to OK or even underpaid depending on how they’re playing. I think this is a reasonable starting point though. A player here or there could be moved but I’d say other than Gardiner there’s no one too firmly in the overpaid camp.

My thoughts on Guentzel are more like what you said about Malkin and Letang.

I mean Malkin hasn't really consistently being as great as he used to be. So I wouldn't really call it underpaid at this point, but certainly not bad at all. Letang pretty much the same.

Zucker and Pettersson have been a little underwhelming this year, so overpaid a bit for me. But like I said, they don't have any overly bad contracts.

I thought the length of Tanev's contract was strange at first. I think he's a good player, but I don't think he's underpaid or overpaid.

Matheson has been pretty good, but the contract is still a little too much for my liking, but again, not too bad.

Ceci is making so little that I think it could be argued he could've got paid a bit more and it wouldn't be bad still.

Acciari is a solid player and valuable due to his versatility but at 1.7 mill he's hardly underpaid. I'd consider Huberdeau for the grossly underpaid category, though his streakiness might keep him out of it.

Honestly I would lean towards putting McDavid as underpaid. I know he’s the highest paid player in the league, but look what he’s doing. He could’ve gotten more for sure.

Would you guys consider McDavid underpaid or fair?

It’s so weird how this works, compared to Marner, Eichel, Karlsson I would say he is underpaid.

But it could also be the case of other players being overpaid and McDavid being paid fairly.

IMO it would only make sense for the value of the best players in the game to be paid close to the max contract, anything less than that is underpaid.
