IIHF - Home 2019 IIHF ICE HOCKEY U18 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Is anyone going? I only have time to get to Ö-vik for the first day with Russia's game and then Sweden-US. Will have to watch the rest on TV.

Kakko will not play BTW. Games should start 9.30 am and 1.30 pm Eastern Time.

Canada's roster is the most interesting to follow. These kids are invited to the first camp:
Goaltenders:
Taylor Gauthier (Prince George Cougars)
Dylan Garand (Kamloops Blazers)
Jonathan Lemieux (Val-d’Or Foreurs)
Defencemen:
Braden Schneider (Brandon Wheat Kings)
Kaedan Korczak (Kelowna Rockets)
Thomas Harley (Mississauga Steelheads)
Michael Vukojevic (Kitchener Rangers)
Jamie Drysdale (Erie Otters)
Lukas Cormier (Charlottetown Islanders)
Daemon Hunt (Moose Jaw Warriors)
Forwards:
Brayden Tracey (Moose Jaw Warriors)
Keean Washkurak (Mississauga Steelheads)
Nathan Légaré (Baie-Comeau Drakkar)
Mavrik Bourque (Shawinigan Cataractes)
Jamieson Rees (Sarnia Sting)
Ryan Suzuki (Barrie Colts)
Dylan Cozens (Lethbridge Hurricanes)
Connor Zary (Kamloops Blazers)
Peyton Krebs (Kootenay ICE)
Hendrix Lapierre (Chicoutimi Saguenéens)
Jean-Luc Foudy (Windsor Spitfires)
Jacob Perreault (Sarnia Sting)

But players eliminated from the CHL leagues could still be invited:
"Over the next week, Hockey Canada and team staff will continue to monitor the Canadian Hockey League playoffs and can invite additional players to training camp before a final roster is named ahead of the tournament"

For the other nations, I've noticed that oft injured Simon Holmström is on the roster. He was seen as the top Swedish forward before the draft that many thought could claim into the top 15 at least, but hip surgery and a wrecked thumb has hurt his chances a lot. We have kept a track of the HV71 players the last years and he could be a candidate for us, probably in later rounds as it stands but it all depends on his play in the WJC. He hasn't played much lately so there should be question marks about his form.

My favorite Alex Turcotte could very well miss the tournament, someone had Pronman saying that he is 50/50 due to an "illness".

Kirby Dach's Saskatoon Blades are one game away from elimination in the WHL, but its 3-2 so it could go either way I recon.

Kirby Dach's play in the POs has dropped off against better competition. I think he possibly would be the most interesting kid to watch in the U18's on big ice. How good would he look against the speedy teams the other nations will send? He is -- great -- down low. But hockey is so much about skating these days.

I think you can add Samuel Poulin to the list too, Sherbrooke has been eliminated

What does any of this have to do with Curtis Lazar?

Some obvious names I'm looking forward to seeing, but a few players that could be risers on draft day. Brayden Tracey is one name from Canada, the Raty brothers out of Finland are intriguing, too!! Aatu could be the No. 1 pick in 2021!!

All USA games are being picked up by NHL network, USA vs Sweden starts at 1:30 today

Canada - Finland & USA - Sweden 18:30 this evening EU local time sad that both games are being played at the same time.

They’re showing the USA-Sweden game later on as well on NHL network (I think around 8) so I might just watch the Canada-Finland game at 1:30 and watch the USA-Sweden game later. Exciting to see how Newhook does and to follow 3 of my favorites for this draft in Legare, Poulin, and Tomasino
