Great news. Good depth guy that will hopefully get better and pick up more and more responsibilities and ice time and at a friendly cap hit.

Would rather see them do this with Johns, but ok.

I am sure they will have no problem extending johns to a friendly cap hit for a couple years even if he performs well this year, if he gets a chance that is with Rundblad returning and possible Oduya signing as well.

Make that $825,000 AAV for Trevor van Riemsdyk. Salary of $750,000 in 16-17 & $900,000 for 17-18.

Even better. Hope the kid improves his speed/first step and gets stronger (and hopefully avoids injury). His positioning and poise are far beyond what people expected. I think he has underrated offensive game too when he gets more comfortable. Great vision.

So if worst comes to worst, TVR can be safely buried in the AHL, and he'll still make out with a cool $1.65M after two years.

Add that to a Stanley Cup ring, and it's a pretty good haul for a UDFA with potential injury problems.

Can't wait to see him play with the Hawks. I didn't mean to take away from signing TVR. I think that's a great move. Just would like to see them jump ahead and do it with Johns as well.

There is a risk to this BUT if he hits and I think he will it could be huge for our cap. I like this idea a lot.

Great signing for a reasonable cap hit. Hope he won't suffer from any more injuries. That can make or break his NHL career.
