Glove Malfunction
Ference is my binky
The hard part in here is getting a consensus on exactly what "his caliber" is.I keep reading Tuuk is overpaid . So what would be a reasonable price for a goalie of his caliber ?

But if you go to Beswick's article, you'll see that when he got it, he was actually worth that. it's been his performance the last several year that the article calls into question.Tuukka got at least 1M too much and he got it at least 2/3 years early. 7M , 6 years ago, was a lot of money. That is the kind of money top Goalies are signing for now. If managers are dumb enough to give stupid contracts (like Price and Lundqvist) let them . It doesn't mean you have to be just as stupid. He took money , term and NMC/NTC too.
Before he got his contract he put up good numbers playing behind a very strong defense mostly in a back roll. When you look beyond the numbers he's pretty ordinary and should have an ordinary salary to go with it.
I told my kid before overtime started that they win this they got themYup. That series was even closer than I think people remember, but for as much as they should have had game 1 they stole game 2. The game I'll never get over, far more than game 6, was 4.
I would say 1.25 million overpaid. Jonathan Quick gets paid 5.8, marc andre fleury 5.75, martin jones 5.75. 2 out of 3 of these guys won stanley cups. None of the top 5 paid goalies are worth their contract (price, lundqvist, bobrowski, rask, rinne) imo.I keep reading Tuuk is overpaid . I believe you should always go with the hot goalie.I think we learned something last night. There are some serious technical deficiencies in Rask's game. We are looking at short side goals where the post should be sealed off. We're seeing rebounds where there shouldn't be any. It doesn't look easy for him right now. Probably should be demoted until he gets his game back.
Kyle Keyser it is then.I believe you should always go with the hot goalie.

I was there, all 6 Boston players were bad in that 30 secomds against Chicago. But, that series was lost with Bergeron being so injured. The Chara seidenberg pairing lost that series for the Bruins. Rask was pretty super overall that series. Those two goals game 6 really weren’t on him IMO
Well... Quick has been quite injured the last seasons, and Rinne did not prove more than Rask. So i agree with you , we could ask for Rogatien Vachon also btwI would take Rinne and Quick, because when they are on, they are (to my mind) better goalies than Rask. But Rinne is probably even more inconsistent than Rask, and Quick has trouble staying on the ice. So...here we are. Can we take 2014 Henrik?
I agree, but thought the series was lost game 4,but yeah we will never know.I was there, all 6 Boston players were bad in that 30 secomds against Chicago. But, that series was lost with Bergeron being so injured.
I still would believe Boston would have 2 cups with a healthy Bergeron. We will never know.

He needs to wake up...sitting for a stretch is exactly what's going to happen. He better hope Halak falter otherwise he's going to sit for some time.
Seems like a lot of panic here over nothing. Very few if any goaltenders now are solid and stellar through the course of a full regular season, let alone the playoffs.
Just look at Washington. They showed the graphic the other night where Holtby's play and numbers went in the tank last year after New Years and essentially lost the No.1 job to Grubauer down the stretch. Grubauer falters in the first two games vs. CBJ, a rested Holtby goes in, 8 weeks later he's backstopping a cup champion.
It comes down to perspective and expectations. I think the days of having goaltenders like say Hasek was in the late 1990s who can dominate the game (for lack of a better term) month after month, season after season, are over. There are a lot very good goaltenders now, if you got one or two of the top 20-25 guys you are in good shape. Much like Starting Pitching in baseball where the days of complete games, heck even getting to the 7th inning or seeing a line-up for the 3rd time, are the exception, seeing a goaltender play rock solid for 60+ games, then go on a run in the playoffs, will be the exception, not the norm.
The norm will be hot and cold play, stretches where one guy plays a lot and the other sits, and vice-versa, and seeing a team have to use 2 goaltenders to get through 4 rounds of the playoffs will be second nature, not a big controversy.
I don't underestimate the issues that we're hearing that guys are having with the new chest protectors. I mentioned this the other night in response to a poster about Rask's rebound control. I think this is a big adjustment and some are openly complaining about getting bruised. Plus scoring is up (which is what many wanted) so what we're seeing is part of that too
