Wideman played 29:25, Russel played 28:57, Brodie played 26:59, and Engelland played 23:49. Diaz and Potter played 7 mins. If we had a reliable 3rd pairing they could take pressure off the guys in the top 4. Even Smid who has been underwhelming could take SOME pressure off.

Id like to see Hartley try the Wotherspoon - Smid pairing again at some point, if Smid comes back.

Schlemko will take some pressure off too. He has averaged 18:06 per game this year with Arizona and 16:23, 17:13 and 18:21 in the 3 seasons prior.

I have a feeling Smid is out for the year.

Did anyone catch Hartley's post-game presser after this one? It was probably the least pleased I've seen him this season. He was happy with Ramo, and he was happy to get the win, but man, it sure looked like he'd just given the players a working-over or something.

The flames will not make the playoffs unless Hartley uses the 3rd pairing more and lets them build some confidence.

You could definitely tell Wideman and Russell were fatigued as the flyers came on in the 3rd.

You can still strategically give the top 4 those minutes in certain games but not for the next 19 straight.

Maybe Schlemko will be a lot better than potter. However I thought potter seemed to be gaining confidence then it seemed he just disappeared from the ice and never got another shift.

I really enjoyed the size we had on the 4th line in poirier, shore and ferland. Reminded me of what the kings have in guys like king, Nolan, Clifford, etc.
