Ultimately, I think we're all on the same page (well all of us but Haley). He's been better this camp/pre-season, but I don't want him sitting in the press box. I want him playing and if that means in Charlotte, I think that'd be best for all involved.

I'm kind of over trying to trade Faulk at this point as I think if we could actually have a powerplay that scored in the regular season like the one we've got cooking in the pre-season, that helps a whole lot. Besides, for the centers that might be available, Faulk isn't really the guy/assets that would go back the other way in my mind.

I co-sign all of this. I wouldn't trade Faulk now unless the return were something that could clearly help this team address a glaring need (a good C or G). If that's not available, I'm super intrigued by the idea that a Faulk-Hamilton led PP could drive this team offensively in a way that might actually overcome our deficits.

Plus...I think Faulk feels he's got something to prove. He has seemed to move better this preseason.

Cajkovski really impressed me today. He shut down Burakovsky countless times, and he seemed to be the strongest D out there. I hope to see him in the NHL, he could do it.

^these were my (limited) thoughts of Cajkovsky in 2014 at the capitals development camp. I've always liked him, and always thought he had potential. I was a bit younger and this was the first development camp I had been to, and I still remember him being the first player I ever saw up close that I was like "damn he's good." So I've always kinda had a soft spot for him and I hope he is able to take advantage of this opportunity. I'll be rooting for him.

Just looked back through my pictures. I went to a day of that development camp that year. Certainly don't remember him, but neat.

With no guarantee that he sees NHL playing time, I wonder if he's taking a major pay cut coming here. I know the KHL isn't quite like the NHL in terms of salaries but I would think he'd be doing better than 70k in the AHL.

These are the types of things I randomly think about. I'm not sure that's normal.

The KHL is why I'm surprised his contract didn't include a minimum guarantee that was somewhere in between the AHL and NHL contract amounts. Several AAAA type players sign deals like that where their minimum salary is something like 200k-300k even though their AHL salary is technically something like 100k and their NHL salary is league minimum. I want to say Boychuk and Terry had contracts like that at one point. Could be CBA related why Cajkovsky didn't sign a similar contract, I'm not sure.

Isn't he on an ELC for this year? If so, I'd assume that's why.

I think you're right. Figured he had already played on an ELC in Washington's system. Not sure though.
CapFriendly doesn't have any previous NHL contract history for him. They don't list this contract as ELC, but on a quick look at CBA, being a 26 y.o. from Europe he should be subject to the Entry-level System for 1 year:

9.1(c) Notwithstanding the chart set forth in (b) above, a Player who at the time he was drafted was playing for a team outside North America or who meets the qualifications set forth in Article 8.4(a)(v) (a "European Player") who signs his first SPC at ages 25-27 shall be subject to the Entry Level System for one (1) year. A European Player who signs his first SPC at age 28 or older is not subject to the Entry Level System under any circumstances.

->

8.4(a)(v) a Player age 22 or older who has not been selected in a previous Entry Draft and shall be eligible to enter the League as an Unrestricted Free Agent pursuant to Article 10.1(d).

According to CapFriendly, he didn't get drafted. It's a bugger from his pow, because he was playing several seasons in NA at time and could avoid the ELS if he was.

But, apparently they didn't even give him a Signing Bonus, which would have been a legal way to pay him another $65k on top of the $70k for effectively playing in AHL. Did they just do a friendly service for his agent by letting him get a foot in the league?
