It's not a hockey play at all, would have been nice to see at least a fine to discourage it. Flip a coin with the Player Safety as always.

Looks worse than it was because Desharnais is 6'7 and Moore is 5'11 lol.

Nothing to see here but some vintage Oiler whining come playoff time.
Which is why went even lower into the hit aiming to take his knees out with his shoulder. That is just as bad as knee on knee and can seriously injure somebody.

I would like to know how many of you guys saying its not overly dirty have ever been hit like that in a game, or have even played the game to begin with.
I've been punched in the throat by someone taller than me in a sparring match. They got a point. Which NHL team do you play for?

Not sure this fits the definition of clipping, but I would really like to see them tighten up on interference when the puck is long gone. It gets ugly in the playoffs when defensemen have to send the puck up ice and they have a guy right there stalking them for a non-hockey-play type of hit.

Considering there’s an exact play like that, that resulted in a 1 game suspension in the playoffs.
There are also many plays like that resulted in no suspension whatsoever. The DoPS can't even spell consistency.

I don’t think anyone is surprised that this didn’t get a fine or suspension with ZERO reasoning given by the NHL.

That doesn’t mean the hit wasn’t dirty, and warranting suspension. The DOPS guidelines clearly has shown that it should have been. But we all know the League is a joke that can’t even get its own rules right.

No and no one is asking for that. But Clippings as specifically defined by the DOPS as an illegal and dangerous play warranting supplemental discipline should be atleast looked at.
They looked at it and determined it was 2:00.
I have played against NHLers such as Morrisey, Dumba, Kulak, Parayko, and played 3 years ajhl and few games in WHL. If somebody is going low to hit you that means only one thing, they are trying to hurt you.
Every hit is an attempt to hurt the other player. Otherwise you wouldn't do it. So what?

It is actually very much against the rules to attempt to injure, which is why plays like this are even reviewed to begin with.

To separate the player from the puck. Very few guys are out there trying to injure the opposition. This isn't MMA ;)

In illegal ways. It's perfectly legal to injure a player on a legal play like a really well placed hit to the chest. But we're splitting hairs. They reviewed it and deemed unnecessary to provide further discipline.

If you get an opportunity for an open ice hit to deliver hard on an opponent legally, you're taking it and you're not taking it just to separate them from the puck. You're trying to hurt them. A hurt player is slower and more hesitant.
