I would trade Murphy next year. Hawks still need to hit the cap floor and Murph's salary does help with that instead of overpaying somebody in FA or taking on a terrible contract.

Only if you don't need to retain salary. McCabe will take up one of the three retention slots in 2023/24 and 2024/25. Murphy would take the second retention slot in 2023/24, 2024/25, and 2025/26. I don't like having only one retention slot remaining for the next two season.

It’s gonna be underwhelming guys, just about every insider has said as much.

Remember that trade talks between the Hawks/rangers picked up AFTER Kane scored 7 goals in 4 games.

The rangers passed on Kane because the Hawks ask was too high and they thought Kane was toast.

Someone picked up the phone and tried to get a deal to work after Kane's heater.

Davidson had more leverage at that time because the NHL saw Kane was still Kane.

I'm sure Davidson's ask went down a bit and drury bent the knee as well and a deal was completed.

Hopefully tonight it is announced.
