That said priority should be a top four defender...right handed preferably.

PLEASE NO. Fire Murray if he trades for Havlat over "D".

I'm positive he is working to fill the hole in our top 6 while looking for a D at the same time. Havlat can be a cheap fix. Only way I see a deal happening is if SJS retains salary. Maybe in the 1.5-2.5 million range. Also keep in mind that the seasons is at the quarter mark therefore it wouldn't be the full salary as is.

If we could get Havlat at a discount, with a minor piece going back to San Jose, I'd be all for it.

We still need to do something about our blueline, but if you can take a chance on a cheap Havlat because Wilson is giving him away, AND the asset you are sending would become redundant with Havlat on the team, AND that asset probably wasn't going to get you a defenceman in the first place... you at least look at that.

If you get a 30% discount on his cap hit, you get a 30% discount on his actual dollars. They're tied. Package deal.

Even though he owes us big time dont expect any favours from Doug Wilson. He's playing a bit of a game trying to get more than he should for Havlat so lets hope BM doesn't fall for it. Wilson is pretending like he's still high on Havlat even though he's a scratch and would probably love to dump his salary. Wilson thumb screwed BM on the Heatley deal by getting him at 1/2 price for the 1st year and giving us oft injured Michalek which wasn't the worst piece but then he also managed to dump Cheechoo on us too. Lets hope the Sens stay away from any deal with the Sharks. Bryan Murray is a straight shooter but some GMs have no qualms about stiffing their counterparts in a trade. Every time I hear his brother's voice on TSN1200 I'm reminded of it so wish they'd avoid him too.

- Kulikov (FLA)
- Campbell (FLA) (conflicting reports about whether he's available)
- Nikitin (CLB)

Other Potential PMDs:
- Daley (DAL)
- Ehrhoff (BUF) (except for that cap re-capture penalty)
- Goligoski (DAL)
- Green (WAS)
- Edler (VAN)

There are obviously some others but these are some of what's out there. Some more available than others. Some more expensive than others, whether it be expensive to acquire or having expensive contracts.

Id take half the guys on that list for the right price issue really comes down to contract size we have the assets to get any of them..... If I had my pick id take Green.....but lol not gonna happen. Del Zotto is enteresting id make a play for him... likely have to give up a something that guys here would squirm about but in the end id say itd be worth it.

Havlat will be an upgrade but I don't think it will have the impact we need.
