They've been trying to trade Luongo out of Vancouver for at least a couple of years now. The plan was to deal Luongo and keep Schneider but no one wanted Lu's contract.

IIRC his wife and kids live in Florida and he's wanted to move there for a while now.

Not sure why some are upset about Vancouver "banishing" Lou to Florida. It's where he's wanted to go (back) to. It makes perfect sense.

I'm happy for Lou to finally get out of Vancouver.

Not surprised after Luongo said the Heritage game was one of the worse days of his career. Too bad, I'm not a Luongo supporter but he was treated badly by Gillis since the last fiasco surrounding him.
