That asking Price for Sharp is crazy .. They want a bluechip prospect, 1st rnd pick and a player who is top six younger and cheaper ***** lol Id pay that for Kane not Sharp.

This may be like when Somali pirates say they want $85MM to return a ship, its crew, and its cargo, but they are really aiming for $1MM.

The Semin trade is a rip off, First I don't want him, but if I was willing to pay him 5 mil, Carolina probably gives me a draft pick to boot(3rd or 4th).

Then I flip Emelin and Desharnais for 2 more picks.

...but I would not touch Semin for 3 more years, even at 5 mil AAV. Just too much of a variation year to year.

Semin is a RW'er

Don't think Sharp is close to getting traded...

B.D. Gallof
‏@BDGallof Per NHL source, CHI currently asking for 1st rd pick, A-level prospect & top 6 forward on entry-level contract for Patrick Sharp

First I can understand since most teams interested will have a late pick, namely us. Our first may as well be a second. But the rest?

Chicago will learn fast just how much value Sharp actually has due to their cap problems.

I'm not sure if it was Lebrun that mentioned on the radio that there are a lot of big names dangled around in trade discussions, more than previous years.

Pacioretty($4.500M) - Galchenyuk($3.500M) - VrBata($5.000M)

too funny. Like what's an A-Level prospect? Max Domi? A player who projects to be better than Sharp? lol.

Well I guess its smarter than asking for a cap friendly bottom 6er and a b level prospect and a 2nd rounder.

There's a new generation of tanks about to start as Buffalo and Edmonton attempt to become real teams. There's a good chance a few contenders are looking to get younger too. St. Louis in particular with the emergence of Schwartz and Tarasenko have an extremely young core to build around. They could be looking to drop the older guys in the core like Backes and Bouwmeester to open cap space. There's also 5-6 teams already hugging the cap though most of them already have their entire rosters signed for next year.

Heard LeBrun said David Backes and TJ Oshie are available.

Backes 6'3" 220lbs, right hand center powerforward who produces 60 points a season.

Oshie 5'11" 200lbs right hand right winger who can score 20 goals, has speed, shotout specialist.

We don't have much to offer.

Why not? Sharp is on a great contract and reading this board, it seems every team should go after him.

Demand is high, offer is obviously low. Chicago won't have to let him go for a 3rd round pick.

It's just in the mind of some fans that Sharp can be had for cheap. Look at what happened with Martin St-Louis. Yzerman was basically forced to trade him to a specific team and he still got a good return. NY's GM could have said "I give you a 2nd round pick for St-Louis and nothing else"... but he didn't.

GMs do have respect for each other and they won't lowball CHI with ridiculous offers for Sharp.

He's also 33 and coming off one of his worst years in recent years. He is declining, hence why he is a prime candidate for the hawks cap purge. I get setting the price high, but the hawks will not get that package for Sharp at 33yo. At 28yo or 30yo? That's absolutely a fair asking price. I think if the Hawks drop the "top 6 forward on an ELC" demand, it would be a whole lot more reasonable.

Scherbak, 1st, and Gallagher for Patrick Sharp.

It is the asking price :)

I actually do want Sharp on the Habs ... maybe for Andrighetto and a 3rd.

On TSN Hockey right now they are talking about a 2nd rounder and a prospect for Kessel as a fair price - with the Leafs eating some salary. I think that gives us a better idea about his value.
