You can get Toffoli and Nolan for Pacioretty or Galchenyuk or Subban, but not for Markov/Gionta/Bourque combination.
LA dreams every day to trade Muzzin for Gorges to you.
Then you can't have Markov. He is one of the top PP defenseman in the league and still can play 25 minutes a game. You don't find guys like that for your garbage, you have to pay to get them. We got Gorges and a 1st for Rivet, Markov is 10 times better than Rivet ever was and won't be cheap.

Im thinking Lombardi keeps watching Russia games and doing the slow mo when Markov is out with Voynov. Well said by the way.

People always bring up the Rivet trade when comparing markov and yes markov is immensely more talented, but Rivet was also only 32 while Markov is 35. Rivet was also a solid D.

Rivet also never had a history of injuries throughout his career (previous 4 seasons before being traded he never missed more than 2 games), only at the very did he have that tear that ultimatrely ended his career.

Markov has played 113 games out of 284 games (40%) in the last 4 years...this is what teams will look.

Now i'm not saying that he isn't worth some good pieces, but some poeple are going to get a rude awakening when/if he gets traded.

All the points you make are true, but for LA it has to be all about gunning for the Cup this year and what Markov will add to their chances for a Cup now. Not what he does next year or how many good years he has left etc because for one thing they have no idea whether he will resign.
