What force of nature do you perceive in our forward group that will allow them to push for 16 wins in May/June. :amazed:

You ever watch the NHL playoffs? Want me to refresh your memory?

If you've never seen an ordinary team ride a hot goalie deep into the playoffs your attention span must be very short indeed. :shakehead

If he trades Galchenyuk for Giroux.

This is it. I'm done. Rooting for the Leafs until the entire front office is wiped.

43 points in 61 games is fine. His contract is very hard to swallow (8.75M until 2021-22), but he's still a good player.

he has gotten 7-8 points less per year over the past 4 years. Thats concerning, especially since The Flyers would want a kings ransom for him, and that cap hit...do not want.

Giroux is having his worst season in the NHL.... he's far from done. He will bounce with a few 70 pts season right back next year.

Can't remember the last time an ordinary team won the cup with a hot goalie though. Bruins might be the closest to that, but even they were quite better than our squad. Pretty rare that a team who's best/highest paid player is a goalie goes anywhere.

I'm with you

We blow up this team now

We trade Weber for a prospect and a first in 2018
We trade price for a damn good prospect and a first in 2018
We trade patches for a prospect and a first in 2018

We trade Gallagher for a first in 2018

5 first rounders in 2018

So by by 2022 we should be good

It's still a 58 point pace though, and that's a lot for a player that's being paid that much. Tbh, the most disconcerting part of his numbers this season is that 24 of his points have come on the power play.

That Bruins team could score. 5th in regular season overall scoring per team and in 25 games in the playoffs they average 3.24 goals per game. A hot goalie is nice, but hot scorers sure helps just as much.

And then we can re hire foxtrot foxhole buddy therein and we can get rid of the young players for a 37 year old DD

Giroux is terrible this year this is Gomez 2.0 ughhhhhhhhhhhh

2016-17 Philadelphia Flyers NHL 61 12 31 43 34 -18

I am sure that is a decline for Giroux and maybe he is Gomez 2.0 but those 43 points would put Giroux as our 2nd best point getter.

Would love to have Giroux with Patces. But 5 years at 8.25 is a steep. If PHI willing to retain 2 Mill then go for it.

Giroux's producction has been diminishing for the past 4 years. I'd be curious to know why you think now that's he's older and has many more miles on him that he'll miraculously improve?

Only game breaker from Philly I'd want is Simmonds. Second would be Schenn. That's about it from them.

Basically what I'm saying. Having our best player be our goalie isn't a good thing.
