As far as Nylander goes he fits every categories of our needs.

1- Right handed center
2- Young (around the same age of our new core) and at the start of his peak.
3 - Productive and talented, he was great in the AHL and played very good at the NHL for 2 years.
4 - He is a fast skater
5 - He has shown he can score goals which we lacking right now.
6 - Potential to get better

We blasted Bergevin in the past for not acquiring a top center and now there might be one available right now in the market and we are all acting like... well we have Poehling (not more talented than Nylander?), Domi (He has looked great at center but can he sustains that over year? not sure), Suzuki (who could play winger in the pro and still unproven) and Kotkaniemi (the kid is 18 years old and has a lot to learn).

Nylander would instantly become our best center and move down everybody in their right chair.
Nylander (1st center), Domi (2nd center), Danault (3rd center), Plekanec/Peca (4th center) and Kotkaniemi can develop further at the AHL level.

I might be too high on Brook, Juulsen, Fleury but I could definately see them replacing the impact of Petry/Weber in a not so distant future.
isnt he a right winger??

Yes, it's difficult to assess Nylander as he benefited from playing with Matthews.

True but he also played with men as a 15 year old in Sweden and according sportsnet he lit the AHL on fire as well. They also said there were several teams prepared with offersheets.

Flyers should be looking at upgrading their defense, top 2 dmen(Weber) and goaltending( Price).
why would we trade them , when we have inflow of young players that can make us contend and that need guidance from good veterans.

Where are these teams with offer sheets?

Because they are both past their prime, will return valuable assets that will help the rebuild and will also make the team tank for better higher draft picks.
As far as veteran guidance, we can sign UFAs for that like Alzner :sarcasm:

why wouldnt he? you'd rather prospects that you HOPE pan out to be close to Nylander. thats so silly
Because we don't have the firepower that Toronto has. Toronto will want an arm and a leg from us for Nylander who will be costing us near 8 million.

How is that a valid argument about the player talent?

Nylander has produced everywhere and at every level and he only have 2 years of experience at the NHL if anything he could produce more than 60 pts here with first PP time and more ice time.

So, what would we gey for Sherbak? Heard there was some scouts out there.

We got an early 3rd for Beaulieu and he was about the same age Scherbak is right now.. he was also coming off a pretty good season.

We haven't been able to move him yet so don't expect a big return. Hopefully we can fleece a team out of a good 19-22 y.o LD for Scherbak.

He won't be playing with Auston Matthews here, he will be playing with someone inferior.

We need to stop talking of Nylander...

1. they will have better D-Man then Petry Juulsen Brook Mete and cie

2. It will take a big offer if Toronto trade a player of this caliber to MTL.. they will prefer to trade him any where else before MTL

f*** Nylander. You don't win cups by overpaying for soft offensive wingers. You want good low profile wingers on your team at a low cap hit (Gallagher). Not players like Nylander.

Obviously there's exceptions for the truly elite players (Panarin/Kucherov etc.). Nylander doesn't fall in that category.
