At least 1 trade incoming this summer. We have too many LD. Matheson, Guhle, Xhekaj, Harris, Struble, Hutson...

Still have Savard and Barron on the right with Reinbacher and Mailloux waiting in Laval.
I'm sure Utah would love to add Matheson. They need a top 4 LD to replace Valimaki. I wonder if we can get Geekie or Hrabal for him.

On The Sick Podcast last night, Marinaro wondered if Joe Veleno would be someone Canadiens could target for trade. Pierre McGuire said if he does become available, he thinks Habs should look to get him. He's an RFA after this year.

He's 24 years old, could play center and wing. He's 6'1" and 205 lbs.

He is on Detroit's 4th line and has only 1 point in the last 25 games, but has 27 pts (11G, 16A) in 79 GP this year.

Former 1st round pick (30th OA) and also a client of Quartexx, Hughes' former agency.

Would love to get my hands on Tuch. Is he considered untouchable? He's like a motivated Armia on steroids would do pretty well next to Dach... plus he's not too old.

He probably is. He is native from upstate NY and he grew up a sabres fan.

Perhaps a potential Dvorak replacement if we decide to move on from Dvo?

Posted that yesterday , curious if he’s simply not interested in Winter-peg, will ride it out to UFA / force a deal, or is he simply waiting to see if a strong playoff push secures the franchises future?

Mid-western boys traditionally seem to like Winter-peg because of close proximity to home…

Gotta think IF Jets need to move him, this summer is THE time to get value or he becomes a diminishing asset value as UFA clock kicks in - McGroarty would fit in seamlessly on Habs

I would offer Mailloux if he’s not interested in playing in Winnipeg

Maybe as our fourth line center. He's genuinely not an interesting player and should not be worth much

We have to move a LD sooner than later. Matheson is either traded or playing bottom pairing.
Matheson will be playing 25 minutes a night until we find a replacement or Guhle takes another step up. I think Hughes and St. Louis really value the veteran D we currently have.

Kind of wanted to aim higher

Guhle is already better than him and more than capable of taking the LD spot. Matheson can f*** off the PP when Hutson is there. He can have his 14 minutes at 5v5, 2-3 on the PK and be spot deployed at 4v4 and 3v3.

Jake Evans is as good as him and currently our 4C. No reasons to go for Veleno. What we really need is a decent option at RW to make that line complete.

Also a whole 3rd line.

Rutger McGroarty sounds like a great "accelerate the rebuild" candidate if we could trade him for picks, B level prospect or players who are not part of our future core.
It is just interesting that he already announced his return to NCAA. He could have just waited if he wants to be traded in the summer, right?
Come to papa :D
