Greenway really is the Chuck special.

It's not just the Minnesota link. It's the idea of getting an attribute without a care for the total package. He's a very good forechecker. Unfortunately, he does almost everything else so poorly that it doesn't matter. And he's somehow got 2x3 left after this year, so we've even got the shitting up the cap aspect at play.

Greenway is the laziest possible target for Fletcher, so it's pretty much a lock.

If it sweetens the pot to like a 1st plus something small to take that contract on with JvR going to Minnesota I’d do that. But Greenway should be considered a pure contract dump but he won’t be with Fletcher & Co. running things.

Never a f***ing doubt

Keep in mind that problem isn't just that Fletcher won't get good value for any upcoming trades.

The problem is he's get awful value AND it will be in the worst possible form.

We need draft picks. He's going to get a current NHL player. Someone big, dumb, and unskilled. Maybe someone who used to have a little potential and name recognition but is clearly not going to become anything of real value.

Don't forget this is after we gave away a good forechecker in NAK for nothing.

There's nothing dumber than NHL GMs

OK, idiot. You don't want to wait for a prospect? Feel like you want to lose a trade? Think you desperately need to help the team win immediately?

Then how about you throw that massive haul at a player who's actually good, not "NHL GM tryhard-fetish with one year of fluke shooting" good?

Listening to it, it sounds like DeAngelo is gonna be a harder trade because the Flyers would have admit a sunken cost on what they paid in the summer. But he said some teams have called since Tortorella’s public comments about no not knowing how to play defense. The Carolina part more so sounded like speculation on Friedman’s part than something concrete he’s hearing.

At this point I can’t tell what we are worse at…finding talent, or developing talent. It’s a real which came first scenario, the chicken or the egg.

Really all irrelevant.

As long as the Flyers family stays together, and the Bullies persona is maintained.

This is a team the rest of the league rightfully laughs at.

Ah, the age old "sign with a contender when you want to win is great but to truly have the best chance of winning you sign with one of this shittiest teams in the league so you can get traded" adage.

The trick is just being present in the league as a veteran dman at the deadline. We happened to be the only team stupid enough to indulge him.

That doesn't sound to me like they think Gurianov or these other guys were negatives.
